Abstract

La presente invencion mejora la eficiencia de la codificacion de vectores de movimiento cuando un bloque en curso es codificado utilizando una pluralidad de vectores de movimiento. Una unidad de codificacion de vector de movimiento (117) codifica un vector de movimiento entrado a partir de la unidad de deteccion de vector de movimiento (108). Un vector de movimiento para cada bloque en curso es codificado en base a una diferencia entre el vector de movimiento y un vector previsto que es obtenido a partir de vectores de movimiento para bloques circundantes previamente codificados. El vector previsto es generado mediante uno de los siguientes procesamientos: (A) los vectores de movimiento que se refieren a la misma imagen son seleccionados entre los vectores de movimiento para los bloques circundantes de modo que sea generado el vector previsto; (B) los vectores de movimiento para los respectivos bloques circundantes son dispuestos en un orden predeterminado, y los vectores de movimiento de la misma disposicion de orden son seleccionados a partir de los vectores ordenados de movimiento de modo que sea generado el vector previsto; y (C) el vector previsto para el segundo vector de movimiento del bloque en curso debe ser el primer vector de movimiento, y si el segundo vector de movimiento y el primer vector de movimiento se refirieran a distintas imagenes, el primer vector de movimiento seria escalado de acuerdo con la distancia temporal entre las imagenes de modo que sea generado el vector previsto.
