Abstract
Una semilla de aceite de Brassica mejorada, una planta mejorada capaz de formar la misma, y un aceite vegetal endogeno, comestible, mejorado derivado de la semilla aceite de Brassica son proporcionados. El aceite vegetal endogeno, comestible de la presente invencion posee una distribucion mejorada de ácidos grasos después de la trituracion y extraccion en ausencia de hidrogenacion u otra modificacion química o física. El contenido de ácido alfalinolénico es menor que 3.5 por ciento por peso, el contenido de ácido oleico es de por lo menos 77 por ciento por peso, el contenido total de ácido graso saturado no es más de 4.5 por ciento peso y el contenido de ácido erucico es de no más de 2 por ciento por peso basado en el contenido total del ácido graso. Cada una de las características citadas del aceite es controlada por medios genéticos y sorprendentemente es expresada simultáneamente (por ejemplo, en el campo bajo condiciones de cultivo de Brassica de semilla de aceite convencionales) en la ausencia de la cancelacion como el resultado de la formacion de los otros rasgos citados.
