Abstract
Se expone un método y aparato para la deteccion de corto circuitos de impedancia baja a moderada sobre cualquier línea de accionamiento de una impresora de inyeccion de tinta térmica para inhibir daños a la circuitería controladora de la impresora, principalmente a los elementos activos de la misma. La impresora incluye una cabeza de impresion que tiene una pluralidad de toberas de impresion térmicamente activadas en la misma para la eyeccion de tinta después de la agitacion térmica de la tinta dentro de la tobera, y líneas impulsoras de datos y de direccion accionadas por controladores de línea de datos y de línea de direccion para la seleccion y activacion de los elementos activos térmicos de tobera asociados con cada una de las toberas al efectuar el flujo de corriente a través de un elemento térmico asociado con cada una de dichas toberas después de su seleccion mediante la activacion de líneas de direccion y de datos asociadas. Un método incluye la etapa de energizar una de una línea de datos y líneas de direccion asociadas con al menos una tobera de inyeccion de tinta térmica sobre la cabeza de impresion, detectar una impedancia inferior a la normal sobre la línea energizada, e inhibir la activacion o energizacion posterior de al menos uno de los controladores de línea de datos y de direccion. La etapa de inhibicion puede llevarse a cabo, por ejemplo, al deshabilitar el suministro de energía asociado con el controlador asociado con la línea que tiene una impedancia inferior a la normal y/o al evitar que el circuito controlador de la impresora proporcione señales de datos y/o direccion a la cabeza de impresion.
