Abstract
Un espectrofotometro fluorescente mide las características fluorescentes de sondas fluorescentes dentro de composiciones funcionales de un espécimen. El espectrofotometro fluorescente emite luz apropiada para excitar el fluorescedor o fluorescedores contenidos dentro del especímen. El fluorescedor excitado emite dentro de un espectro de longitud de onda de emision. Los fluorescedores que tienen una region de longitud de onda más angosta sobre el cual ocurre un cambio brusco en la intensidad de emision se escogen para utilizarse como sondas fluorescente. El espectrofotometro fluorescente detecta el cambio en intensidad a través de esta área más angosta y ejecuta un cálculo de derivada en la curva de intensidad. El espectrofotometro fluorescente es capaz de distinguir el fluorescedor de otros fluorescedores o de fondos fluorescentes que está interfiriendo.
