Abstract

El invento se refiere a dos nuevas formas ópticamente activas del ácido2-ceto-3-metil-4-hidroxi-valérico de la fórmula I, en donde el átomo 4 Ctiene la configuración (S). El átomo 3 C puede tener la configuración (R)o la configuración (S). El invento se refiere también a un procedimientomicrobiológico para la preparación de los compuestos I. Este procedimientocomprende hacer reaccionar 4-hidroxi-isoleucina (2S, 3R, 4S) (=L-4-hidroxiisoleucina) de la fórmula II, con microorganismos que tienenactividad de L-amino ácido oxidasa (EC 1.4.3.2) o una L-amino ácidooxidasa. Los compuestos I son intermediarios interesantes para laproducción de la (5S)-3-hidroxi-4,5-dimetil-2(5H)-furanona ópticamenteactiva.
