Abstract

La presente invención proporciona un método doble para producir plantas macho estériles. Dos plantas genéticamente transformadas, los padres 1 y 2, se cruzan para obtener una progenie macho estéril. El padre 1 se transforma con un cartucho de expresión que incluye una secuencia de nucleótido que codifica un promotor específico de antera, el cual se enlaza operablemente con una secuencia de nucleótido que codifica un transactivador. El padre 2 se transforma con un cartucho de expresión que incluye una secuencia de nucleótido objetiva, la cual es capaz de activarse mediante el transactivador, operablemente enlazada con una secuencia de nucleótido que codifica ARN o un polipéptido que alterará la formación del polen viable.
