Abstract
Se proporcionan métodos para conservar el almidón presente en la pulpa y también métodos para controlar la precipitación y/o incrustación de calcio en los digestores o sistemas BOD. Los métodos se pueden realizar como parte de un proceso de fabricación de papel. El agua de proceso que contiene la pulpa se puede tratar con una cloramina. El agua de proceso que contiene la pulpa con almidón nativo puede recibir un tratamiento doble con por lo menos un biocida, tal como cloramina y por lo menos un oxidante, tal como hipoclorito de sodio. El tratamiento se puede realizar de cualquier manera adecuada. El tratamiento se puede realizar en una o más etapas o ubicaciones en un sistema de fabricación de papel. Un valor o intervalo de cloramina residual objetivo se puede lograr por el tratamiento. Las hojas/cartones de empaquetamiento y otros productos de papel fabricados utilizando los métodos proporcionados exhiben resistencia superior y otras características deseables.
