Abstract
La presente invención proporciona un detector de neutrones gamma basado en mezclas de absorbentes de neutrón térmico que producen emisión de partículas pesadas seguido de la captura térmica. En una configuración, el detector basado en B-10 se usa en una geometría de placa de electrodo paralela que integra láminas moderadoras de neutrones, tal como polietileno, en la parte trasera de las placas de electrodo para termalizar los neutrones y entonces detectarlas con eficacia alta. El moderador puede también remplazarse con láminas de escintilador plástico vistas con un tubo fotomultiplicador de área grande para detectar también rayos gamma. El detector puede usarse en muchas configuraciones de exploración incluyendo portal, auto-servicio, conducción, portátil y mochila, etc.
