Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un método de establecer un tapón microbiano en una formación geológica que contiene hidrocarburos la cual ha sido inundada con agua, caracterizado porque comprende: a) introducir en la formación un inóculo microbiano, los microorganismos de los cuales son: (i) en un estado latente, (ii) celulítico o hemicelulolítico, (iii) termófilos, termófilos extremos o hipertermófilos, (iv) no pueden utilizar hidrocarburos como fuente de carbono, y (v) no autóctonos a la formación geológica que contiene hidrocarburos; b) de manera simultánea o secuencial introducir en la formación un medio de crecimiento el cual proporciona una fuente de carbono la cual puede ser utilizada por los microorganismos introducidos en la etapa (a) pero no por los microorganismos autóctonos; (c) exponer el inóculo a condiciones las cuales permiten que los microorganismos entren en una fase de crecimiento activo dentro de los canales de agua en la formación geológica; y d) introducir un líquido de inyección que comprende un medio de crecimiento adicional como se define en la etapa (b) dentro de la formación por medio de un pozo de inyección.
