Abstract

La invención se relaciona con un método de producción de ácido carboxílico o éster insaturado etilénicamente, preferiblemente un ácido carboxílico a, ß o éster insaturado etilénicamente. El método incluye poner en contacto formaldehído o una fuente adecuada del mismo con un ácido carboxílico o éster en presencia de un catalizador y, opcionalmente, en presencia de un alcohol. El catalizador comprende un óxido de metal nitrurado que tiene como mínimo dos tipos de cationes de metal M1 y M2, donde M1 se selecciona de los metales de los grupo 2, 3, 4, 13 (también denominados IIIA) ó 14 (también denominados IVA) de la tabla periódica y M2 se selecciona de los metales de los grupos 5 ó 15 (también denominados VA) de la tabla periódica. La invención se extiende hasta un sistema de catalizadores.
