Abstract

La presente solicitud se relaciona con una cepa novedosa del género Schizochytrium (Schizochytrium sp.) y un método para producir ácidos grasos poliinsaturados mediante el uso de la misma. De conformidad con un aspecto, las microalgas novedosas del género Schizochytrium tienen un alto contenido de grasa en biomasa y particularmente un alto contenido de ácidos grasos poliinsaturados como por ejemplo ácido docosahexaenoico (DHA) y ácido eicosapentaenoico (EPA), y por lo tanto, las microalgas y biomasa o bioaceite preparado a partir de la misma puede ser útil como una fuente de pienso o similar.
