Abstract

Se describe un vehículo de minería de aguas profundas para recolectar depósitos minerales de un fondo marino a grandes profundidades, y opcionalmente transportar tales depósitos a un dispositivo flotante. El vehículo comprende un bastidor de soporte provisto de medios para hacer avanzar el vehículo en el lecho marino, un depósito para los depósitos minerales recolectados, y además un cabezal de succión con un lado de succión abierto que se dirige hacia el lecho marino y a lo largo del cual se recolectan los depósitos minerales. El vehículo de minería de aguas profundas está provisto además de un dispositivo de control para mantener la altura del plano de succión dentro de unos límites predeterminados en relación con el lecho marino. El dispositivo de control se sirve de medios de medición para obtener las alturas del fondo marino en posiciones que preceden al lado de succión abierto con respecto a la dirección de movimiento y que se extienden a lo largo de una anchura del vehículo de minería de aguas profundas. Un actuador incorporado en un circuito de control ajusta la altura del cabezal de succión en función de las alturas del fondo marino medidas en las posiciones.
