Abstract
La invención hace referencia a un proceso y a una planta para producir metanol a partir de un gas de síntesis que tiene un déficit de hidrógeno. Una corriente de gas de reposición procedente de una unidad reformadora que comprende hidrógeno y óxidos de carbono se combina con una corriente que contiene hidrógeno procedente de una etapa de recuperación de hidrógeno. Esto produce una corriente de gas de síntesis rico en hidrógeno que tiene un número estequiométrico SN, definido como SN = [n(H2) - n(CO2)] / [n(CO) + n(CO2)], no inferior a 2.0. La corriente de gas de síntesis rico en hidrógeno se combina con una corriente de gas residual, y la corriente de gas de síntesis rico en hidrógeno y la corriente de gas residual se hacen pasar a través de un lecho de un catalizador de síntesis de metanol a presión elevada y temperatura elevada, para obtener una corriente de producto que comprende metanol y la corriente de gas residual, y la corriente de producto se enfría para eliminar el metanol de la corriente de gas residual. De acuerdo con la invención, se prevé que una parte de la corriente de gas residual se elimine como una corriente de gas de purga y una parte de la corriente de gas de síntesis rico en hidrógeno se elimine y se combine con la corriente de gas de purga para obtener una corriente de gas de síntesis mixta, y la corriente de gas de síntesis mixta se envía a la etapa de recuperación de hidrógeno para producir la corriente que contiene hidrógeno.
