Un método para calentar una porción de un objeto comprende las etapas de: proyectar un haz de energía (11) sobre una superficie del objeto (100; 206) para producir un punto primario en la superficie, y escanear repetidamente el haz (11) en dos dimensiones de acuerdo con un patrón de escaneado para establecer un punto efectivo (12) en la superficie, y desplazando el punto efectivo (12) en relación con la superficie del objeto (100; 206) para calentar progresivamente la al menos una porción seleccionada del objeto, en donde desplazar el punto efectivo (12) en relación con la superficie del objeto (100; 206) comprende desplazar el punto efectivo siguiendo una pista (104) que presenta al menos un cambio de dirección. El punto efectivo se mantiene alineado con la pista modificando el funcionamiento de un escáner (2) en correspondencia con el al menos un cambio de dirección.
