Abstract
Se describe un método para evaluar los márgenes quirúrgicos. El método incluye, después de la administración de un compuesto configurado para inducir emisiones de entre aproximadamente 600 nm y aproximadamente 660 nm en células de tejido canceroso, colocando un extremo distal de un dispositivo de imagen portátil, de luz blanca y basado en fluorescencia adyacente a un margen quirúrgico. El método también incluye, con el dispositivo portátil, excitar y detectar de forma sustancialmente simultánea las emisiones de autofluorescencia de las células de tejido y las emisiones de fluorescencia de la longitud de onda inducida en las células de tejido del margen quirúrgico. Y, en base a una presencia o una cantidad de emisiones de fluorescencia de la longitud de onda inducida detectada en las células de tejido del margen quirúrgico, determinando si el margen quirúrgico está sustancialmente libre de al menos una de las células precancerosas, cancerosas y lesiones satélite.
