Abstract
Un proceso para producir soluciones acuosas de polímeros del ácido acrílico mediante la polimerización del ácido acrílico en la operación de alimentación con un iniciador de radicales libres en presencia de hipofosfito en agua como solvente, caracterizado porque comprende (i) cargar inicialmente agua y opcionalmente ácido acrílico en forma ácida, no neutralizada, opcionalmente uno o más comonómeros etilénicamente insaturados, opcionalmente solución acuosa de hipofosfito y opcionalmente un iniciador, (ii) agregar ácido acrílico en forma ácida, no neutralizada, opcionalmente uno o más co-monómeros etilénicamente insaturados, solución iniciadora acuosa de radicales libres y una solución acuosa de hipofosfito, (iii) agregar una base a la solución acuosa después de la terminación de la alimentación de ácido acrílico, donde el contenido de comonómero no excede el 30 % en peso en base al contenido total de monómero, donde el ácido acrílico, la solución iniciadora de radicales libres y la solución de hipofosfito acuoso se agregan de modo tal que la proporción molar x de ácido acrílico a hidrógeno unido al compuesto fosforoso [AA]/[P-H] durante un período de tiempo en el cual por lo menos el 75% del ácido acrílico se convierte tiene un valor x que es constante hasta dentro de ± 0,5 y está en el rango de 0,8 a 2.
