Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a procesos para producir composiciones organofosforosas que tienen un bajo contenido de ácido así como también procesos para reprocesar composiciones organofosforosas parcialmente degradadas que contienen altos niveles de ácido fosforoso. En una modalidad, un proceso comprende: (a) recibir un compuesto de organofosfito sólido que se ha recristalizado o triturado, en donde el compuesto de organofosfito sólido comprende ácido fosforoso; (b) disolver el compuesto de organofosfito sólido en un solvente de hidrocarburo aromático en la ausencia de agua y amina libre, en donde el solvente de hidrocarburo comprende un hidrocarburo aromático, un hidrocarburo alifático saturado, o una mezcla de los mismos; y (c) remover el ácido fosforoso no disuelto de la solución, en donde el contenido de ácido del organofosfito después de la etapa (c) es 30 ppm o menos.
