Abstract

La presente invención se relaciona con el proceso catalítico que incluye composiciones catalíticas para la despolimerización y desoxigenación de ligninas contenidas en la biomasa para la obtención de hidrocarburos aromáticos. La composición catalítica consiste de al menos un elemento no noble del grupo VIIIB de la tabla periódica soportado en una matriz mesoporosa compuesta de un óxido inorgánico, que puede ser alúmina modificada superficialmente con un segundo óxido inorgánico con el objeto de inhibir la interacción entre el componente activo y el soporte. El proceso de despolimerización de lignina consiste en disolver lignina en una mezcla de líquidos próticos, ponerlo a reaccionar en un sistema de reacción por lotes o en flujo continuo en atmosfera inerte y/o reductora, a temperatura comprendida entre 60 a 320 °C y presión de 5 a 90 Kg/cm2. Cuando la reacción se desarrolla en un sistema por lotes se produce principalmente hidrocarburos aromáticos oxigenados, tanto por despolimerización térmica como catalítica, mientras que en un sistema de reacción en flujo continuo se producen hidrocarburos aromáticos desoxigenados.
