Abstract

Proceso para producir un polímero que consiste en una cadena principal lineal de unidades beta-D-(1-3)-glucopiranosilo que tienen una unidad de beta-D-glucopiranosilo (1-6) única unida a una unidad de beta-D-glucopiranosilo de la cadena principal lineal con un grado de ramificación promedio de aproximadamente 0,3, dicho proceso que comprende las etapas de: (i) cultivar en un medio un microorganismo modificado genéticamente capaz de producir un polímero que consiste en una cadena principal lineal de unidades de beta-D-(1-3)-glucopiranosilo que tienen una unidad de beta-D-glucopiranosilo (1-6) única unidad a una unidad de beta-D-glucopiranosilo de la cadena principal lineal con un grado de ramificación promedio de aproximadamente 0,3, donde la modificación confiere un aumento de actividad - en comparación con un microorganismo de control no modificado de la misma cepa - , de al menos dos productos génicos seleccionados del grupo que consiste en (a) hexoquinasa, (b) fosfoglucomutasa,. (c) UTP-glucosa-1-fosfato uridiltrasferasa, (d) 1,3-beta-glucanosintas a (e) enzima de ramificación; en condiciones que permiten que dicho microorganismo produzca dicho polímero; (ii) recuperar en forma opcional, dicho polímero del medio.
