Abstract

Se describe un proceso para preparar moléculas de mono- y/o disulfonato furánico a partir de productos de reducción de HMF, en particular, a partir de 2,5-bis-hidroximetiltetrahidrofuranos (THF-dioles) o furan-2,5-dimetanol (FDM) en condiciones relativamente suaves. El proceso implica hacer reaccionar THF-dioles o FDM con al menos una especie de sulfonato, y un reactivo de 1) una base nucleófila o 2) combinación una base no nucleófila y un nucleófilo, como dos reactivos diferentes. También se proporcionan los sulfonatos furánicos sintetizados de acuerdo con el proceso y algunos de los compuestos asociados que pueden derivatizarse a partir de los sulfonatos.
