Abstract
Un proceso para tratar petróleo pesado para proveer petróleo pesado que tiene una densidad y viscosidad reducida, así como un contenido de olefina que no excede 1.0 % en peso. El proceso comprende separar el petróleo pesado inicial en una primera fracción, que en general contiene componentes de ebullición inferiores, y una segunda fracción. La segunda fracción comprende un petróleo pesado que tiene un valor de p de por lo menos 5% mayor que el valor de p del petróleo pesado inicial antes de separar el petróleo pesado inicial en la primera fracción y la segunda fracción, y la segunda fracción tiene una aromaticidad que no es mayor a 5% menor que la aromaticidad del petróleo pesado inicial antes de separar el petróleo pesado inicial en la primera fracción y la segunda fracción. La segunda fracción se mejora entonces para reducir la densidad y viscosidad del petróleo pesado. Después de que se mejora la segunda fracción, se recombina con por lo menos una porción de la primera fracción para proveer un petróleo pesado tratado que tiene un contenido de olefina que no excede 1.0 % en peso. La separación del petróleo pesado inicial en las primera y segunda fracciones permite que se logre la reducción mejorada de la densidad y la viscosidad del petróleo pesado tratado mientras que mantiene el contenido de olefina a un nivel aceptable.
