Abstract

La invención se refiere a una composición basada en carbón gelificada que forma un gel monolítico polimérico orgánico capaz de formar un monolito de carbón mediante pirolisis, al uso de la misma y a un procedimiento para preparar dicha composición. Una composición de conformidad con la invención se basa en una resma derivada por lo menos parcialmente a partir de poli-hidroxibenceno(s) R y formaldehído(s) F, tiene una conductividad térmica menor o igual a 40 mWm-1·K-1, y comprende por lo menos un polielectrolito catiónico soluble en agua P. Un procedimiento para preparar dicha composición comprende: a) polimerización, en un solvente acuoso, del polihidroxibenceno o polihidroxibencenos y el o los formaldehídos, en presencia de dicho por lo menos un polielectrolito catiónico disuelto en este solvente y de un catalizador, para obtener una solución basada en la resma, b) gelificación de la solución para obtener un gel, y c) secado para obtener el gel monolítico polimérico orgánico.
