Abstract
La presente invención se relaciona con un proceso para eliminar de manera selectiva molibdeno de una solución la cual contiene molibdeno, el proceso comprende los siguientes pasos: ? llevar la solución a un pH ácido más bajo que o igual a 3, de preferencia más bajo que o igual a 2, de preferencia incluso más bajo que o igual a 0.5, por la adición de un ácido inorgánico; ? agregar al menos un solvente orgánico, de preferencia tolueno o xileno, a la solución y agitar continuamente para crear una emulsión orgánica de agua; ? agregar a la emulsión orgánica de agua al menos un xantato de metal alcalino que tiene la fórmula general MeRX, en donde R es un grupo de alquilo lineal o ramificado que tiene un número de átomos de carbono más alto que o igual a 2, Me es un metal alcalino seleccionado de Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs y Fr, y X es el grupo xantato, con el fin de formar un complejo con molibdeno en el cual la proporción molar de los xantatos de metal alcalino/molibdeno van de 1/6 a 1/2, manteniendo la emulsión en un pH ácido por medio de la adición de un ácido inorgánico, e interrumpir la agitación para permitir la separación de la fase acuosa de la fase orgánica. El grupo R de alquilo lineal o ramificado de preferencia tiene un número de átomos de carbono más alto que o igual a 2 y más bajo que o igual a 12. Un reductor es opcionalmente agregado a la solución inicial el cual comprende Mo y V.
