Abstract

La invención se relaciona con un proceso para preparar un copolímero de (met)acrilato que contiene grupos amino terciarios por polimerización por radicales libres en solución a partir de una mezcla de monómeros que se selecciona de a) 30 a 70% en peso de un éster alquílico de 1 a 4 átomos de carbono de ácido acrílico o ácido metacrílico, y b) 70 a 30% en peso de un éster alquílico de ácido acrílico o ácido metacrílico con un grupo amino terciario en el radical alquilo, y c) 0 a 10% de monómeros de vinilo copolimerizables adicionales, por lo que uno o más iniciadores de polimerización, opcionalmente uno o más reguladores de peso molecular y uno o más disolventes o de una mezcla de disolvente se agregan a la mezcla de monómeros para proporcionar una mezcla de polimerización la cual es polimerizada a temperaturas de 30 a 120°C durante un período de 2 a 24 horas, en donde la mezcla de polimerización es polimerizada finamente para proporcionar un jarabe de polimerización con una conversión de monómeros al copolímero de por lo menos 99% en peso, en donde el jarabe de polimerización subsecuentemente se desgasifica por destilación o por extrusión y el jarabe de polimerización desgasificado se tritura adicionalmente a una preparación de copolímero en la forma de un granulado o polvo, en donde la preparación de copolímero está definida por un peso molecular (Mw) de 25,000 a 75,000 g/mol, un índice de polidispersividad de 2.1 a 2.9 y una concentración de disolvente residual de menos de 1,000 ppm en peso.
