Abstract

Una cinta (20) aislante compuesta comprende un laminado o co-extrusión de por lo menos dos capas, incluyendo una primera capa aislante (24) de una matriz de polímero, en donde las partículas de mica están dispersas y una segunda capa (26) de un polímero que contiene anillos aromáticos y/o heterocíclicos y que tiene un punto de fusión de por lo menos 350°C y tina temperatura de transición del vidrio de por lo menos 150°C. La cinta se puede utilizar para formar un recubrimiento de múltiples capas en un conductor (10) tal como un alambre eléctrico. Una capa (28) protectora externa de un fluoropolimero, tal como PTFE, se puede aplicar alrededor de la cinta envuelta, al envolverse o por extrusión.
