Abstract

La invención provee un método para separar sulfuros de corrientes de petróleo viscosas tales como asfalto, petróleo crudo y suspensión de petróleo utilizando octoato de zinc en el cual la proporción molar de zinc acomplejado con ácido octanoico no es de 1:2. Debido a que el zinc tiene una carga de +2 y el ácido carboxílico tiene una carga de -1, se suponía previamente que todos los octoatos de zinc deben tener una proporción de 1:2 de porciones de zinc a ácido carboxílico. La formulaciones de octoato de zinc que contienen sin embargo una proporción que no es de 1:2 y aquellas con una proporción de 2.1:3 a 1.97:3 en particular, se han mostrado el efecto que funciona mejor. Además, estas formulaciones que no son de una proporción de 1:2 tienen viscosidad más baja y por consiguiente son más fáciles de usar que las formulaciones previas que incluyen una proporción de 1:2.
