Abstract
La presente invención describe composiciones para la desinfección y/o preservación efectiva de alimentos, por ejemplo alimentos frescos, lo que permite la eliminación efectiva de microorganismos en dichos alimentos. Las composiciones descritas contienen extractos derivados de plantas con actividad antimicrobiana, los cuales pueden actuar por si solos o en combinación con otros agentes desinfectantes, como por ejemplo ácidos orgánicos y compuestos de cloro. Las composiciones de la invención son capaces de eliminar contaminación microbiana, incluyendo de microorganismos patógenos, de semillas y de los germinados obtenidos a partir de las mismas sin alterar las propiedades de germinación de las semillas y las propiedades nutritivas y/o alimenticias de los germinados.
