Abstract

Se describe un sistema de formación de imágenes por transferencia de calor (10) y un método de uso del mismo. El sistema de formación de imágenes por transferencia de calor (10) incluye una hoja de transferencia de calor (11) y una tinta de activación (12). La hoja de transferencia de calor (11) y la tinta de activación (12) se formulan especialmente de tal forma que sólo las áreas de la hoja de transferencia de calor que ha impreso la tinta se hagan adhesivas bajo las condiciones de transferencia de calor. Este efecto puede lograrse al diseñar la hoja para que incluya un recubrimiento receptor de calor (25) cuya temperatura de fusión sea más alta que aquella encontrada típicamente durante condiciones de transferencia de calor normales y al formular la tinta de activación (12) para que incluya un plastificante que, cuando sea impreso sobre el recubrimiento receptor de tinta (25), reduzca la temperatura de fusión del recubrimiento receptor de tinta lo suficiente como para que la temperatura de fusión modificada esté dentro de la escala de temperaturas encontrada durante la transferencia de calor.
