Abstract

La invención se refiere a hilos de vidrio para refuerzo que tienen una composición que incluye los siguientes componentes dentro de los limites abajo definidos, en porcentaje por peso, a saber: 62-72% de SiO2; 4-11% de Al2O3; 8-22% de CaO; 1-7% de MgO; 0-9% de Na2O + K2O + Li2O; 0-4% de BaO + SrO; 0-4% de B2O3; 0-2% de F2 y 0-4% de otros componentes: TiO2 + ZrO2 + Fe2O3 (hierro total) + P2O5 + MnO + Cr2O3 + MoO3 + ZnO + SO3. Estos hilos están hechos a partir de vidrio de bajo costo que proporciona un excelente compromiso entre las propiedades mecánicas de los mismos, representadas por el módulo específico de Young, y las condiciones de producción de fibra de los mismos. La invención también se refiere a la composición del vidrio diseñado para la producción de esos hilos de vidrio, a las estructuras basadas en estos hilos, particularmente redes, telas y esferas, y a los compuestos que incluyen a estos hilos.
