Abstract

De acuerdo con la presente invención, cuando un aparato realiza reproducción desde un disco óptico de un formato no compatible con el aparato, el aparato se previene de obtener un direccionamiento incorrecto y así causar un mal funcionamiento. Un método de grabación de acuerdo con la presente invención realiza primero la conversión de m número (1 = m < n; m un entero) de símbolos invertidos a bits en posiciones prescritas de una palabra código codificada usando un código para corrección de error por un código Reed-Solomon y que incluye el símbolo C(i) [i = 0, 1, 2, ... n; n es un entero] para generar información de conversión; y graba la información de conversión en un primer medio de grabación. La primera conversión se establece de tal manera que una distancia entre la primera información obtenida al realizar la conversión inversa a la primera conversión en la información de conversión, y la segunda información obtenida al realizar la conversión inversa a la segunda conversión, que es diferente de la primera conversión, en la información de conversión, es al menos la 1/2 de una distancia libre mínima del código para corrección de error.
