Abstract

Se describe una composición de resina y un artículo formado a partir de ésta. La composición de resina contiene un poliol halogenado, un poliol bromado diferente del poliol halogenado, y un pirorretardante. La composición de resina además puede contener otros componentes, como polioles suplementarios, catalizadores, promotores de la adhesión, agentes tensoactivos, agentes de soplado, aditivos o combinaciones de éstos. El artículo consiste en el producto de reacción de un isocianato, el poliol halogenado y el poliol bromado en presencia del pirorretardante, un agente de soplado, y como una opción, uno o más de los otros componentes. Por lo regular, el artículo se define como una espuma de poliuretano. El artículo supera los requisitos de inflamabilidad clase 1, como el índice de dispersión de la llama, densidad de humo y el parámetro de dispersión de la llama convectiva de acuerdo con las pruebas del ASTM E84 Y FM4880. Además, el artículo presente excelente estabilidad dimensional y fuerza de adhesión, y puede utilizarse para formar materiales de construcción como tableros aislantes, muros y plafones.
