Abstract

La presente invención proporciona una espuma de poliuretano semi-rígida, de baja densidad, hecha a partir del producto de reacción, a un índice de isocianato de aproximadamente 100 a aproximadamente 150, de al menos un poliisocianato y una mezcla reactiva con isocianato que contiene de aproximadamente el 1,% en peso a aproximadamente el 55% en peso, basado en el peso de la resma, de un poliol de poliéter difuncional, o de mayor funcionalidad, de aproximadamente el 3% en peso a aproximadamente el 19% en peso, basado en el peso de la resma, de al menos un tetrol de poliéter, y de aproximadamente el 7% en peso a aproximadamente el 39% en peso, basado en el peso de la resma, de al menos un poliol de poliéster no halogenado, en presencia dé aproximadamente del 5% en peso a aproximadamente el 30% en peso, basado en el peso de la resma, de al menos un retardante de llama sin funcionalidad hidroxi y de aproximadamente el 1% en peso a aproximadamente el 20% en peso, basado en el peso de la resma, de al menos un agente de reticulación, y opcionalmente en presencia de uno o más catalizadores, tensioactivos, prolongadores de cadena y agentes de soplado, en el que la espuma de poliuretano semi-rígida, que tiene una densidad de aproximadamente 2 a aproximadamente 25 pcf, satisface al menos una clasificación de clase V-1 de acuerdo con el ensayo de inflamabilidad UL 94 V. Las espumas de poliuretano semi-rígidas, de baja densidad, de la presente invención pueden encontrar uso en la producción de barreras que se erigen rápidamente, de peso ligero, para proteger a personas tales como soldados, oficiales de policía y bomberos, de la persecución por parte de los adversarios. Las barreras hechas con la espuma de la invención pueden usarse también para limitar el acceso a áreas ya aseguradas.
