Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a marcadores de cancer y a metodos para detectar marcadores de cancer en una muestra. La muestra puede ser sangre periferica. Los marcadores de cancer son de manera muy comun secuencias de ADN anormales o mutadas asociadas con cancer metastasico. Los marcadores se pueden detectar utilizando PCR, microarreglos, u otras pruebas basadas en acido nucleico o peptido. Estos metodos se pueden utilizar para una variedad de propositos de diagnostico, incluyendo diagnosis inicial, en etapa temprana o tardia de cancer, particularmente cancer metastasico y monitoreo del progreso del cancer o del tratamiento. Los marcadores de cancer tambien se pueden utilizar para crear un perfil de marcador de cancer. El tratamiento se puede dirigir tomando como base este perfil. De manera adicional, los metodos que utilizan sangre pueden proveer un perfil de marcador de cancer o mutaciones o anormalidades encontradas en por lo menos uno de varios tumores en el cuerpo, en lugar de simplemente un tumor.
