Abstract
The present invention relates to an anelectrolytic fluorescent lighting system consisting of: an excitation means to generate a closed magnetic field; an induced electric field essentially parallel and in the same direction as the magnetic field; and a radiant electric field orthogonal to the closed magnetic field, the induced magnetic and electric fields are applied at essentially the same frequency to accelerate and direct the electrons to collide with atoms of predetermined gas composition, the excitation means includes a toroidal coil for generating the electric and magnetic fields and a closed-contour gas housing having an essentially donut-shaped contour, placed inside the toroidal coil; an electrostatic protective member essentially spanning the excitation means to contain the radiant electric field within the lighting system; a bulb member surrounding the electrostatic protective member and the excitation means, the bulb member has a gas composition contained therein, the atoms of the gas composition are ionized by collision with the accelerated electrons, and the atoms Ionized gas composition is intended to radiate energy in the ultraviolet bandwidth of the electromagnetic spectrum subsequent to the shocks; and, a coating of fluorescent material on an internal surface of the bulb member to absorb at least a portion of ultraviolet energy and re-irradiate the absorbed energy to the exterior of the lighting system in the form of visible light.
