La presente invención se refiere a agente para de detectacción y la determinación de la actividad de peroxidasa, que contiene una tetraalquilbencidina o una de sus sales, un peróxido o un sistema generador de peroxido de hidrógeno, caracterizado porque contiene una o varias substancias tampón, que ajustan un valor de pH en el margen de 2.5 a 3.9.
