Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un metodo para tratar un medio acuoso, que comprende el paso de añadir a dicho medio acuoso aproximadamente de 0.5 a 500 ppm de un copolímero soluble en agua de (a) 20 a 95 porciento por peso de por lo menos un ácido carboxílico monoinsaturado de 3 a 5 átomos de carbono o su sal, (b) 1 a 60 porciento de peso de por lo menos un ácido acrilamidoalcan-sulfónico o su sal, y (c) con el resto a 100 porciento por peso de un comonómero primario de acrilamida substituida, que se define como sigue: en que R1 se selecciona de hidrógeno y un grupo metilo R2 y R3 se seleccionan individualmente de hidrógeno y grupos alquilos substituidos y no substituidos, conteniendo cada uno de ellos de 1 a 12 átomos de carbono, en que los substituyentes en dichos grupos alquilo seseleccionan de grupos alquilos, arilos, carboxilos y cetos, con la condición de que R2 o R3, o ambos sean distintos de hidrógeno; dicho copolímero contiene por lo menos un monómero que se seleccionade cada grupo (a), (b) y (c); teniendo dicho copolímero un peso molecular promedio ponderal en la amplitud de aproximadamente 1,000 a 100,000.
