La presente invención se refiere a un método para preparar un compuesto que tiene la formula... en que R es alquilo; R1 es alquilo, alquenilo, arilo o bencilo; y X es halógeno o nitro, que comprende hacer reaccionar un benzoato de la fórmula... en que R y X son como se definen, con un mercaptano de la fórmula R1-SH, en que R1 es como se define, en la presencia de una base inrogánica y un solvente aprótico polar a un solvente aprótico no polar y un catalizador de transferencia de fase.
