Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento que emplea oxígeno molecular para deslignificar fibras de lignocelulosa en una pasta acuosa a partir de un digestor, sin una pérdida significativa de la resistencia de la fibra, el cual comprende las etapas de: a. espesar la pasta acuosa extrayendo de la misma una primera porción de licor, b. incorporar suficiente pasta acuosa espesada a partir de la etapa (a) en una primera mezcla de reacción, para proporcionar una consistencia de aproximadamente el 8 por ciento a aproximadamente el 25 por ciento en peso de fibras sobre una base secada al horno, conteniendo dicha mezcla de reacción también suficiente alcalinidad para ser equivalente a de aproximadamente el 1.5 por ciento a aproximadamente el 4 por ciento de hidróxido de sodio, y de aproximadamente el 0.01 por ciento a aproximadamente el 1 por ciento de peróxido de hidrógeno, basándose en el peso secado al horno de las fibras, c. mentener la primera mezcla de reacción a una temperatura de aproximadamente 80 grados C a aproximadamente 110 grados C, durante aproximadamente 30 a aproximadamente 60 minutos en la presencia de oxígeno molecular a una presión parcial de aproximadamente 620 a 860 kPa (75-110 psig), d. espesar la primera mezcla de reacción apartir de la etapa (c), extrayendo de la misma una segunda porción de licor, e. incorporar suficiente pasta acuosa espesada a partir de la etapa (d) en una segunda mezcla de reacción, para proporcionar una consistencia de aproximadamente el 8 por ciento a aproximadamente el 25 por ciento en peso de fibras sobre una base secada al horno, conteniendo dicha mezcla de reacción también suficiente alcalinidad para ser equivalente a de aproximadamente el 1.5 por ciento a aproximadamente el 4 por ciento de hidróxido de sodio, f. mantener la segunda mezcla de reacción a una temperatura de aproximadamente 70 grados C a aproximadamente 110 grados C durante aproximadamente 30 a aproximadamente 60 minutos en al presencia de oxígeno molecular a una presión parcial de aproximadamente 170 a 860 kPa (20-110 psig), y g. recuperar las fibras deslignificadas de la segunda mezcla de reacción, teniendo dichas fibras deslignificadas una resistencia igual o incrementada comparadas con las fibras deslignificadas mediante una sola etapa de oxígeno.
