Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento mejorado para la preparación del dímero de 2,2-paraciclofano utilizado en la preparación de parileno, que comprende poner en contacto la solución acuosa de haluro de p-metilbenciltrimetilamonio con un hidróxido alcalino en presencia de sulfóxido de dimetilo y, cuando menos un promotor de reacción seleccionado a partir del grupo que consiste de: a) un éter de metilalquilenoxi de la fórmula: CH3-(-O-CH2-CH2-)n-O-(CH2-CH2-O)m-CH3 en donde n tiene un valor de 1 a 18, y m es de 0 ó 1 a 4, y b) un éter de corona que tiene de 4 a 6 átomos de oxígeno y de 12 a 18 átomos de carbono; y a continuación, recuperar el 2,2-paraciclofano.
