Description

The present invention essentially relates to a decorative covering element and allowing good thermal and / or sound insulation, this element being able to constitute either on the internal side or on the external side, the covering of a wall, of any partition. or even a ceiling.

It has already been proposed to apply various products to the walls or partitions of any building to achieve the finish, by coating or by spraying. It is also known to apply by gluing to walls or partitions various sheet materials and constituting for example wallpaper or sheets of moisture resistant material.

But all these means, in general, do not provide thermal and sound insulation or the insulation that is sought is, at the very least, very deficient.

Furthermore, there are also on the market panels or plates of synthetic material such as polystyrene for example, which make it possible to achieve good thermal insulation, under the roofs of dwellings for example. But these materials remain fragile and brittle and, if they are useful, nevertheless do not have any particular decorative aspect.

So far, until now, decorative elements or panels have never been proposed comprising a support made of a synthetic material of the polystyrene type for example, and an appropriate coating on this support to give it an appropriate aesthetic appearance while stiffening it.

The present invention achieves this goal by proposing such an element which not only has all the desired qualities of insulation, rigidity and aesthetics, but can easily be cut and installed by an amateur who wants to carry out the interior or exterior lining of 'a wall or partition belonging to any local ion.

To this end, the subject of the invention is a rigid or semi-rigid decorative and insulating covering element having any shape such as a plate for example, and of the type comprising a support made of a light and preferably synthetic material, such as polystyrene, polyurethane or the like, characterized in that the said support comprises, on at least one of its faces, a layer of adhesive material retaining at least one layer of granular or pulverulent material on which is preferably applied a fixing coating .

The layer of adhesive material may consist of an adhesive, a paint or the like applied to the support by coating or spraying.

The layer of granular or powdery material retained by the adhesive material may consist of sand, crushed stone, mica or the like, having an appropriate particle size and for example between 0.1 and 10 mm.

The fixing coating applied to the layer of granular or pulverulent material may consist of a tinted or non-tinted varnish.

This element may advantageously have the form of a ribbon, a plate with chamfered edges or even the form of any decorative element, such as a cornice, decorative molding, etc.

However, other advantages and characteristics of the invention will appear better in the detailed description which follows, and refers to the appended drawings, given solely by way of example, and in which: - Figure 1 is a schematic view and in perspective of an assembly of plates or decorative elements in accordance with the principle of the invention; and - Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along line II-II of Figure 1.

According to the example shown, a decorative and insulating covering element according to this invention may have the shape of a polygonal plate which comprises a support 1 made of a preferably light and synthetic material such as polystyrene, polyurethane foam or the like, which support has on one of its faces three types of material which will be described below.

On the face 1a of the element 1 forming a support or substrate 1, is firstly applied a layer of adhesive material which may consist of an adhesive, a paint or, in general, any type of sticky material, which can be applied to the support by coating or spraying and is marked in the drawings by the arrow 2.

This sticky material is capable of retaining a layer of granular or pulverulent material, the grains of which can be seen diagrammatically in 3. This layer of material can be produced by sandblasting, in which case the grains 3 can constitute grains of sand. It is perfectly possible, without departing from the scope of the invention, to use crushed stone, mica or any other type of granular material desired, colored or not depending on the decorative aspect that is sought. Of course, the particle size of the grains 3 can be any and be for example between 0.1 and 10 mm, this again depending on the desired decorative appearance. The concentration of the grains 3 can also be arbitrary and obviously such that good adhesion is obtained thanks to the layer of adhesive material 2.

Finally, a fixing coating 4 is applied to the layer of granular or powdery material so as to achieve, in a way, excellent immobilization on the surface of the grains 3.

This fixing coating 4 can advantageously consist of a tinted or non-tinted varnish ion which can be applied by spraying or coating.

It would be perfectly possible, without departing from the scope of the invention, to dispense with the finishing coating 4 if the adhesion or agglomeration of the layer of granular material with the layer of adhesive 2 is considered sufficient and satisfactory.

As can be seen in the figures, the elements or plates according to this invention may include a chamfered edge 5 capable of improving the aesthetics of these elements once assembled.

But this is by no means essential, just as the elements 1 could take a shape other than that of a plate of polygonal shape, that is to say for example the shape of any decorative element for dwellings. and such as for example the shape of a cornice or any molding or rod.

It is therefore understood that anyone will be able to fix by the face lb, and by gluing for example, the elements described above on the surface of a wall or a partition, and that on the outside or on the side. interior.

It is important to emphasize here that the elements or plates according to this invention will have all the desired qualities of thermal and sound insulation thanks to the support 1 of polystyrene or polyurethane, and that these elements can be very easily cut and placed by the user. In addition, these elements are rigid thanks to layers 2, 3 and 4 which also participate in thermal and sound insulation and can also claim to resist humidity in walls or partitions.

We therefore produced according to the invention inexpensive decorative covering elements, easy to work and install and having the qualities of protection that are sought today in buildings, without forgetting the undeniable decorative aspect presented by said elements.

Of course, the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described and illustrated, which has been given only by way of example.

This is how the elements according to this invention could be in the form of a semi-rigid ribbon which could be cut on demand. But, in this case, as in the case of rigid plates, we are in the presence of a finished material and ready to install. Also the elements according to this invention may include jointing battées.

The invention includes all the technical equivalents of the means described and their combinations if these are carried out according to the spirit.

Decorative or insulating covering element rigid or semi-rigid and having any shape, such as a plate for example and of the type comprising a support (1) made of a relatively light and preferably synthetic material, such as polystyrene, polyurethane or the like and comprising, on at least one of its faces, a layer of adhesive material (2) retaining at least one layer of granular or powdery material (3) on which is preferably applied a fixing varnish (4), characterized in that the layer (2) of adhesive material is constituted by an adhesive, a paint or the like applied to the support (l) by coating or spraying, and the layer (3) of granular or pulverulent material retained by the adhesive material is constituted by sand, crushed stone, mica or the like, having an appropriate particle size and between 0.1 and 10 mm. 2.
