Strips of paper for a computer printer are already known, these strips being presented in the form of a continuous strip of paper folded in an accordion fashion to facilitate storage. However, it is often necessary to cut the continuous strip of paper sheet by sheet, after printing. In this operation, the strips of paper folded in accordion have serious drawbacks, and require complex and tedious manipulations.

In fact, it is necessary for the accordion paper, once the border strips have been removed, to be taken up first by hand or using an appropriate machine in order to separate the various screens. This operation necessarily leaves traces in the form of attachment points between the 15 consecutive screens. Then, the different separate sheets obtained must be returned at a rate of one in two so that the printed texts all appear in the same direction.

These operations are expensive and penalize the processing capacities of the printing chain.

We also know the paper strips presented in the form of reels, and used with high performance printers, followed by a complex device for cutting the edge strips and cross cutting.

These devices are very expensive and, in addition, only allow the supply of sheets all cut to the same length. In addition, the paper presented in the form of a continuous reel requires, despite its advantages compared to folding in accordion, two operations for the transformation into sheet by sheet: the cutting of the edge strips allowing the drive by pivots, and the transverse cuts successive. This also results in a limitation of the performance of the printing line.

Ultimately, there is not yet a continuous strip of paper facilitating high-speed printing operations, and which is easily recoverable at the output of the printer, in the form of separate sheets or bundles of sheets, of length and length. variable nature.

The object of the present invention is to provide a strip of paper for a computer printer which overcomes all of the aforementioned drawbacks, and which makes it possible to easily obtain re-paper at high speed; · I - 2 - ff \ cut after printing in the form of separate sheets or bundles of such sheets, while using only very simple and inexpensive equipment.

The advantages obtained thanks to this invention consist essentially in that the documents coming from the printer are presented in the form of separate sheets which can be used immediately without additional manual or mechanical manipulations. In addition, the invention makes it possible to obtain bundles of sheets of variable or non-variable format, and having characteristics of colors, grammage, etc. entirely independent of a sheet of paper. other.

The strip of paper 1 in the form of a reel 2 intended to supply a computer or other printer, consists of a central ribbon 3 provided in the vicinity of its longitudinal edges 4, 5 with two zones 6, 7 comprising perforations 8 .

The paper strip 1 thus provided with identical notches 9 separated by variable distances, has a succession of sheets 12, 13, 1¾ 15 only linked in pairs by small areas of paper 15. These areas 15 make it possible to ensure the holding of the entire paper strip 1 and its progression sheet by sheet in the printer.

It is particularly important to note that the different notches 9 have a width 11 slightly greater than the standardized width 16 20 of the paper in separate sheets, that is to say that the notches 9 slightly encroach on the edge strips. However, the width 11 remains less than the distance 17 which separates the rows of perforations 8 arranged in the two strips of edges 18, 19.

Before the transformation of the paper strip 1 into sheet-by-sheet paper, the edge strips 18, 19 are fictitiously defined, and shown diagrammatically by the dashed lines 20, 21 in FIG. 2.

One of the fundamental advantages of the paper strip 1 as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 consists in that for its transformation from sheet to sheet, it suffices to carry out after printing a single operation, namely cutting the strips. edge 18, 19 along the dashed lines 20, 21.

The cutting member or emarger used for this purpose, separates the edge strips 18, 19 from the central strip 3 then, when it arrives at the intersection with a notch 9, it releases the corresponding sheet 12 from any attachment relative to the original paper strip 1 (Figure 2).

In this way, the paper strip 1 can comprise, where appropriate, a succession of identical sheets, or just as well, a succession of identical series of sheets of variable length intended to be subsequently collected in bundles, or any other predetermined succession, function of subsequent manipulations or computer processing which are variable according to each application.

However, the strip of paper 1 shown diagrammatically in FIGS. 1 and 2 necessarily consists of a succession of sheets 12, 13, 14 with the same color, quality or grammage characteristics. However, it may be advantageous in certain applications to be able to form successions or bundles of sheets of different color, quality or grammage, depending on the final recipient.

For this purpose, reference is made to FIG. 3.

In this case, the paper strip 31 consists of a central strip 25 33 consisting of a superposition of several strips wound simultaneously on a reel (not shown).

The central strip 33 is in this case surrounded by two edge strips 48, 49 which can be either integral with one of the superimposed strips, or attached and glued to one of them (FIG. 3), in the case where they have a simple thickness.

Of course, according to an alternative embodiment not shown, it is also possible and advantageous to wind simultaneously several strips of paper identical to the strip 1 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, these strips being optionally connected together by small markings. or lamellae arranged in the edge strips as known per se, the edge strips in this case also being multilayer. In this configuration, the cutting of the edge strips also frees bundles of several sheets of the same format, as in the previous case (FIG. 3).

Of course, although the invention has been described with regard to a particular form of embodiment, it is understood that it is in no way limited thereto and that it is possible to make various modifications to the assembly of the bundles of sheets and / or dimensions, materials or combinations of these elements, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention.
