Abstract
본 발명은 신호 근원지(the signal source)의 평륜 비트율(mean bit rate)과 접속의 손실 확률(the loss probability)을 연속적으로 모니터링(monitors)하는 동적 대역폭 조정 메키니즘(a dynamic bandwidth adjustment mechanism)을 포함하는 패킷 스위칭 네트워크에 대한 액세스를 적응 시키기 위한 방법 및 시스템에 관한 것이다. 이들 값들은 노이즈(noise)를 제거하기 위해 필터링되며, 이 값은 사전 정의된 허용 적응 영역(a pre-defined acceptable region) 내에 있는 평균 비트율과 손실 확률 평면 내에 해당하는지 검사하는데 사용된다. 이 영역 외부에 해당하는 값에 의해 대역폭 적응 조치가 개시되며, 결과적으로 새로운 접속 대역폭이 획득되고, 적응 메카니즘에 대한 새로운 파라미터가 결정된다. 더욱이, 이 메카니즘은 자신의 처리 용량이 주어진 경우 단일 프로세서에 의해 적응될 수 있는 접속의 수를 제어한다. 이 제어 메카니즘은 통상적으로 단일 접속이 프로세서 용량의 상당 부분을 사용하는 것을 방지하므로써 접속들 간의 공정성을 보증한다.

Claims (6)
- 각각의 노드가 다수의 링크를 프러세싱하기 위해 하나 이상의 링크 프로세서를 포함하는 경우, 근원지 노드로부터 목적지 노드로 디지털 그래픽을 전송하기 위해 근원지 노드의 목적지 노드의 전송 링크(209)들로 상호 접속된 다수의 노드(201..208)들을 포함하는 패킷 수위칭 통신 네트워크(200)에 대한 액세스를 동적으로 적응시키는 방법에 있어서, 상기 방법은,① 상기 근원지 노드로부터의 트래픽의 평균 비트율을 측정(106)하는 단계와,② 상기 근원지 노드로부터 네트워크 내로 리키 버킷 제어 회로에 의해 상기 트래픽의 흐름을 제어(107)하는 단계와,③ 상기 리키 버킷 베어 회로에 의해 상기 네트워크 내로 도입된 패킷의 손실확률을 측정(108)하는 단계와,④ 상기 손실 확률 측정의 값을 필터링(109)하는 단계와⑤ 상기 동시 발생한 평균 비트율과 손실 확률 측정의 값에 대한 적응 영역을 정의하는 단계와,⑥ 상기 적응 영역밖에 해당하는 상기 평균 비트율과 손실 확률 측정값의 쌍에 응답하여, 상기 근원지 노드로부터 접속에 할당된 대역폭의 변경을 요구하는 단계를 포함한다.상기 대역폭의 변경을 요구하는 단계는,·근원지 노드 내에서 각각의 링크 프로세서에 대한 대역폭 변경 요구의 평균 횟수를 측정하는 단계와,·근원지 노드 내의 동일한 프로세서에 의해 처리된 모든 접속에 대해 상기 대역폭 변경 요구의 평균 횟수에 따른 손실 확률 측정 로우 패스 필터(low pass filter)의 대역폭을 적응시키는 단계를 포함하는 패킷 스위칭 통신 네트워크에 대한 액세스의 동적 적응 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 대역폭 변경 요구의 평균 횟수를 측정하는 단계는, 상기 대역폭 변경 요구의 평균 횟수 측정의 값을 필터링하는 단계를 더 포함하는 패킷 스위칭 통신 네트워크에 대한 액세스의 동적 적응 방법.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 동일한 프로세서에 의해 요구되는 대역폭 변경의 평균 횟수가 점점 증가할수록, 로우 패스 필터(109)의 대역폭이 점점 감소하는 패킷 스위칭 통신 네트워크에 대한 액세스의 동적 적응 방법.
- 제1항 내지 제3항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 접속이 자신에게 할당된 대역폭의 변경을 빈번히 요구할수록 링크 프로세서는 상기 요구에 대한 우선 순위를 작게 부여하며, 접속이 자신에게 할당된 대역폭의 변경을 적게 요구할수록 링크 프로세서는 상기 요구에 대한 우선 순위를 크게 부여하는 패킷 스위칭 통신 네트워크에 대한 액세스의 동적 적응 방법.
- 제1항 내지 제4항 중 어느 한 항의 방법에 따라, 전송 링크(209)로 상호 접속된 다수의 노드(201..208)들을 포함하는 패킷 스위칭 통신 네트워크(200)에 대한 액세스를 적응시키는 방법을 실행하는 수단을 포함하는 통신 노드(300).
- 제5항에 따르는 다수의 노드(201..208)들을 상호 접속하기 위한 다수의 전송 링크를 포함하는 패킷 스위칭 통신 네트워크(200).
