Abstract

합성 다이아몬드로부터 무색 또는 거의 무색의 천연 다이아몬드를 구별하기 위한 단순하고, 안전하며 컴팩트한 장치를 제공하기 위하여, 본 장치는 250nm 또는 225nm 미만의 대략적인 자외선 광선의 성분을 갖는 조사 광선으로 정지된 다이아몬드(7)를 조사하는 플레시 램프(4)가 자체내에 있는 챔버(2)를 갖는다. 상기 램프(4)에 의해 조사된 후에 상기 다이아몬드(7)에 의해 발산되는 인광의 세기는 광전자 중배관 튜브(9)에 의해 측정되며, 이것은 마이크로프로세서로 신호를 준다. 인광의 세기가 한계치로 감소되게 되는 시간의 경과를 시각적으로 나타내는 디스플레이(13)가 있다. 다이아몬드(7)가 인광을 가지고 있지 않거나, 또는 짧은 인광 시간을 가지고 있는 경우에는 아마도 천연인 것으로 분류된다.

Claims (11)

  1. 무색의 또는 거의 무색의 합성 다이아몬드로부터 무색 또는 거의 무색의 천연 다이아몬드를 구별하기 위한 장치에 있어서, 다이아몬드를 위치시키기 위한 장치, 약 250nm 미만의 파장의 자외선 형태로 차체의 대략적인 세기 성분을 갖는 광선으로 상기 다이아몬드를 조사하기 위한 장치, 시간에 따라 변환하고 상기 다이아몬드에 의해 발산된 인광 방사선의 세기에 종속하는 신호를 생성하기 위하여, 상기 다이아몬드에 의해 발산된 인광에 응답하는 장치, 및 상기 다이아몬드가 분류되는 것을 가능하게 하는 지시를 주기 위하여, 상기 신호에 대해 응답하는 신호 처리 장치를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
  2. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 신호 처리 장치가 상기 신호를 나타내는 시각적인 지시를 생성하기 위한 장치를 포함하는 장치.
  3. 청구항 2에 있어서, 상기 시각적인 지시를 생성하기 위한 장치가 조사 이후의 경과된 시간을 나타내는 장치.
  4. 청구항 2 또는 청구항 3에 있어서, 상기 시각적인 지시를 생성하기 위한 장치가 조사 시간과 한계치로 떨어지는 인광 시간 사이의 시간을 나타내는 장치.
  5. 청구항 4에 있어서, 상기 한계치가 상기 시각적인 지시를 생성하기 위한 장치에 의해 결정된 바와 같은 인광의 정점 값의 미리 설정된 비율로 되어 있는 장치.
  6. 상기 항들 중 임의의 항에 있어서, 조사시 약 250nm 이상의 파장을 갖는 성분이 존재하지 않게 되는 장치.
  7. 상기 항들 중 임의의 항에 있어서, 상기 다이아몬드의 치수에 대한 보상을 하도록 치수 기준 신호를 생성하기 위한 장치를 포함하는 장치
  8. 상기 항들 중 임의의 항에 있어서, 상기 다이아몬드를 위치시키기 위한 장치가 다이아몬드가 조사될 때 상기 다이아몬드를 정지시키게 되는 장치.
  9. 무색의 또는 거의 무색의 합성 다이아몬드로부터 무색 또는 거의 무색의 천연 다이아몬드를 구별하기 위한 방법에 있어서, 상기 항들 중 임의의 항의 장치를 사용하고 상기 다이아몬드가 인광을 나타내지 않거나 짧은 인광 시간을 나타낼 경우 상기 다이아몬드를 아마도 천연인 것으로 분류하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  10. 합성 다이아몬드로부터 천연 다이아몬드를 구별하기 위한 방법에 있어서, 첨부 도면을 참조로 하여 상술한 방법.
  11. 합성 다이아몬드로부터 천연 다이아몬드를 구별하기 위한 장치에 있어서, 첨부 도면을 참조로 하여 상술한 장치.
