Abstract

디스플레이용으로 사용되는 피디엘씨 패널의 피디엘씨 층의 균일한 중합 방법이 개시되어 있다.
중합 반응의 제어가 용이한 자외선에 의한 광중합을 중합에 사용하는 경우에, 피디엘씨 패널에 설치되어 있는 차광층 등에 의해 자외선의 투과가 차단되는 부분에서 중합이 제대로 이루어지지 않으며, 이에 따라 피디엘씨층의 광학적 및/또는 기계적 성질이 열화되는 문제가 있다.
이와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위하여 자외선 흡수제를 중합시에 혼합하여 사용하고, 액정 패널의 양쪽에서 조사각을 변화시키면서 자외선을 조사하여 균일한 중합이 이루어지도록 하였다.
이와 같이 자외선 흡수제를 혼합하여 사용하는 중합 방법은 피디엘씨 패널과 같이 자외선이 차단되는 부분이 작은 크기로 전반적으로 균일하게 분포되어 있는 다른 경우의 중합에도 사용될 수 있으며, 이러한 방식으로 제작된 피디엘씨 패널은 각종의 디스플레이 장치에 사용될 수 있다.

제2도는 본 발명에 따라 자외선 흡수제를 사용할 경우, 피디엘씨 셀에서 이루어지는 중합의 상태를 보여주는 개략도이다.

Claims (2)

  1. 박막 트랜지스터를 형성하는 전공정; 셀을 형성하고 드라이버를 실장하는 후공정으로 이루어지는 PDLC 패널의 제작 방법에 있어서, 액정 주입후 PDLC 층의 중합 단계에서 액정과 단량체 혼합 용액에 자외선을 흡수제를 혼합하여 중합을 실시하는 것을 특징으로 하는 피디엘씨의 균일 중합 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 자외선 조사시 자외선의 조사각을 변화시키며 액정 패널의 양방향에서 조사하는 것을 특징으로 하는 피디엘씨의 균일 중합 방법.
