Abstract
본 발명은 개선된 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10) 및 액정 디스플레이 시스템(12)에 관한 것이다. 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10)는 백색광을 제공하는 냉음극 형광관(11), 상기 백색광을 수납하도록 배치된 도광관(13)을 포함한다. 위산 지연막층(14)은 도광관(13)의 제1면(15)에 부착된다. 2중층 반사/투과 홀로그램(16)은 박막층(14)에 대향하는 도광관(13)의 출력면(17) 상에 배치된다. 냉음극 형광관(11)으로부터의 광은 도광관(13)내로 주입되고, 2중층 홀로그램(16)으로부터 회절된다.
이로 인해 액티브 매트릭스 액정 디스플레이(21)의 적색, 녹색 및 청색 엘리먼트(22)의 클리어 개구에 대응하는 적색, 녹색 및 청색의 광 패치의 어레이로 홀로그램(16)에 의해 투과된 정교한 스펙트럼 색상의 준-콜리메이트 s-편광을 만들어낸다. 그 결과 액정 디스플레이(21)는 높은 디스플레이 밝기, 배터리 전력 감소, 배터리 수명 향상, 및 시야각 향상을 통한 높은 콘트라스크를 갖게 된다.

Claims (16)
- 백생광을 방출시키는 백색 광원(11), 도광관(13), 상기 백색 광원(11)으로부터의 백색광을 상기 도광관(13)으로 주입하기 위한 광 주입 수단(12), 상기 도광판(13)의 제1면(15) 상에 배치된 위상 지연층(14), 및 상기 도광관(13)의 출력면(17) 상에 배치된 2중층 반사/투과 홀로그램(16)을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10).
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 백색 광원(11)은 냉음극 형광관(11)인 것을 특징으로 하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10).
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 광 주입 수단(12)은 논-이미징 집광기(12)인 것을 특징으로 하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10).
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 도광관(13)은 테이퍼 형상으로 되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10).
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 2중층 반사/투과 홀로그램(16)은 상기 도광관(13) 내로 주입된 서로 다른 각을 갖는 광을 선택하기 위해 상기 백라이트(10)의 면을 따라 가변되는 반사/투과 홀로그램 더블릿(16)의 어레이인 것을 특징으로 하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10).
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 위상 지연층(14)은 제로(0) 지연을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10).
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 2중층 반사/트과 홀로그램(16)은 그 자신을 투과하여 적색, 녹색 및 청색으로 구성된 광 패치의 어레이가 되고 정교한 스펙트럼 색상을 갖는 준-콜리메이트 s-편광(quasi-collimated s-polarized light)을 발생시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10).
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 2중층 반사/투과 홀로그램(16)은 테이퍼 형상의 도광관(13)의 출력면(17)에 적층되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10).
- 제1항에 있어서, 도광관(13)은 평면-병렬 도광관(13a)이며, 상기 백라이트(10)는 백색광을 방출시키는 제2의 백색 광원(11b), 상기 제2의 백색 광원(11b)으로부터 백색광을 상기 도광관(13) 내로 주입하기 위한 제2의 광 주입 수단(12b), 및 상기 도광관(13)의 출력면(17) 상에 배치되며 다른 홀로그램(16)과 직교하도록 배치된 제2의 2중층 반사/투과 홀로그램(16b)을 구비하는 것을 특징으로하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10).
- 액정 디스플레이(21)에 사용되는 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10)에 있어서, 상기 홀로그래픽 백라이트(10)는, 백색광을 방출시키기 위한 냉음극 형광관(11), 상기 형광관(11)에 의해 출광된 백색광을 집광시키기 위한 논-이미징 집광기(12), 상기 집광기(12)에 의해 제공된 집광된 광을 수광하고 균일 밝기의 백색광을 방출시키는 출광면을 제공하는 편평한 테이퍼형 도광관(13), 상기 테이퍼 도광관(13)의 제1면(15) 상에 배치된 위상 지연막층(14), 및 상기 테이퍼 도광관(13)의 제2출력면(17) 상에 배치된 2중층 반사/투과 홀로그램(16)을 구비하며, 상기 냉음극 형광관(11)에 의해 출광된 광은 상기 테이퍼형 도광관(13) 내로 주입되어 상기 2중층 홀로그램(16)에서 회절됨으로써 액정 디스플레이(21)의 적색, 녹색 및 청색의 엘리먼트(22)의 클리어 개구에 대응하는 적색, 녹색 및 청색으로 구성된 광 패치의 어레이를 갖는 정교한 스펙트럼 색상의 준-콜리메이트 s-편광이 투과되는 것을 특징으로 하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트.
- 제10항에 있어서, 상기 액정 디스플레이(21)는 액티부 매트릭스 액정 디스플레이(21)인 것을 특징으로 하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트.
- 제10항에 있어서, 상기 2중층 반사/투과 홀로그램(16)은 상기 테이퍼형 도광관(13)의 제2출력면(17)에 적층되는 것을 특징으로 하는 홀로그래픽 백라이트.
- 백색광을 방출시키는 냉음극 형광관(11), 상기 형광관(11)에 의해 출광된 백색광을 집광시키기 위한 논-이미징 집광기(12), 상기 논-이미징 집광기(12)에 의해 투과된 백색광을 수납하는 도광관(13), 상기 도광관(13)의 제1면(15) 상에 배치된 위상 지연막층(14), 상기 도광관(13)의 제2출력면(17) 상에 배치되며 정교한 스펙트럼 색상의 준-콜리메니트 s-편광을 만들어내기 위한 상기 도광관(13)으로부터 출광된 광을 회전시키는 2중층 반사/투과 홀로그램(16), 상기 홀로그램(16)에 인접되게 배치되며,상기 홀로그램(16)에 의해 투과된 준-콜리메니트 s-편광을 수납하기 위한 액정 디스플레이(21), 및 상기 광을 소망의 각 관측 영역(angular viewing zine)으로 확산시키는 확산 스크린을 구비하며, 상기 냉음극 형광관(11)에 의해 출광된 광은 도광관(13) 내로 주입되어 2중층 홀로그램(16)에서 회절되어 투과됨으로써, 상기 액정 디스플레이(21)의 적색, 녹색 및 청색 엘리먼트(22)의 클리어 개구에 대응하는 적색, 녹색 및 청색으로 구성된 광 패치 어레이가 되고 정교한 스펙트럼 색상을 갖는 준-콜리메이트 s-편광으로 만들어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이 시스템(20).
- 제13항에 있어서, 상기 액정 디스플레이(21)는 액티브 매트릭스 액정 디스플레이(21)인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이 시스템.
