Abstract

A wound cored structure is made by applying a liquid resin coating to the core, gelling the resin, and winding a conductor onto the gelled resin. The conductor is embedded in the resin which is still soft enough to allow this. This procedure may be repeated to make multi- layered wound cores. A preferred resin is an acrylic epoxy and gelling is preferably effected by irradiation, e.g.U.V. radiation. Accurate location and good insulation of the conductors avoiding the prior art use of solid insulating layers. Electric coils can be made by the invention.
