Abstract
본 발명은 폴리아미드로 이루어진 수분-선택적 분리층(water-selective separating layer)의 선택도 및 막의 투수성(water-permeability)을 손상시키지 않으면서 수동적 방오 효과(passive antifouling effect)를 얻기 위해, 역삼투(reverse osmosis)(초여과(hyperfiltration))용 및 나노여과(nanofiltration)용 박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes), 이후 집합적으로 칭해 물-여과 막(water-filtration membranes)의, 매우 얇은 선택적-작용 분리층(selectively-acting separating layer)의 부드러운 분자 표면 기능화(gentle molecular surface functionalisation)를 위한 결합된 방법에 관한 것으로, 상기 선택적-작용 분리층은 바람직하게 방향족 폴리아미드(aromatic polyamides), 폴리우레탄(polyurethane) 및/또는 폴리우레아(polyureas)로 이루어진다.
Description
본 발명은 폴리아미드로 이루어진 수분-선택적 분리층(water-selective separating layer)의 선택도 및 막의 투수성(water-permeability)을 손상시키지 않으면서 수동적 방오 효과(passive antifouling effect)를 얻기 위해, 역삼투(reverse osmosis)(초여과(hyperfiltration))용 및 나노여과(nanofiltration)용 박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes), 이후 집합적으로 칭해 물-여과 막(water-filtration membranes)의, 매우 얇은 선택적-작용 분리층(selectively-acting separating layer)의 부드러운 분자 표면 기능화(gentle molecular surface functionalisation)를 위한 결합된 방법에 관한 것으로, 상기 선택적-작용 분리층은 바람직하게 방향족 폴리아미드(aromatic polyamides), 폴리우레탄(polyurethane) 및/또는 폴리우레아(polyureas)로 이루어진다.
식수 생산, 공업용수 공급 및 폐수 정화 또는 심지어 식료품 및 생명공학 등에서, 대부분, 수처리용 막-기반 공정(Membrane-based processes)은 비살균 또는 단일살균(monoseptic) 방식으로 운영된다. 존재하는 모든 미생물 및 수반되는 생체고분자로 인하여, 막 및 막의 포어(pore)에 부착되는 생물막(biofilms)이 형성된다. 결과적으로 생성된 생물 부착(biofouling)의 결과로, 침투 흐름(permeate flow), 분리 선택성(separation selectivity) 및 종종 콜로니제이션(colonisation)의 저항성이 감소하고, 또한 소독제(disinfectants) 또는 항생제(antibiotics)를 집중 사용하여 병원성 세균을 완전한 파괴(살균)해야 한다. 단백질, 다당류 및 핵산과 같은, 생체 고분자가 증착되어 미생물 생물막이 형성되지만, 이런 생물막은 가능한 제거되거나 가능한 최소화되어야 한다. 반면 모든 방오 코팅(antifouling coatings) 및 방오 기능화는 막의 기술적 기능을 보전해야 한다. 예를 들면 특히 분리막, 특히 역삼투(reverse osmosis)용 박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)의 분리막의 경우, 그것은 성취하기 어려운 기술적 요구 사항이다. 또한, 모든 방오 처리는 기존의 생산 및 공장 컨셉과 통합될 수 있어야 한다.
기술적 관행에서, 막 오염, 특히 생물 부착(biofouling)의 문제는 기계적 세척, 세정(washing), 화학적 살균 및 화학적 및 과열-증기 살균(chemical and superheated-steam sterilisation)에 의해 해결된다. 현재, 대체 처리에 의한 사전여과(마이크로여과(microfiltration) 및 한외여과(ultrafiltration)), 영양소 고갈 (특히 응집(flocculation)) 및 화학 막 세척;과 산성 용액 및 알칼리 용액: 및 염소, 결합된 활성 염소(bonded active chlorine) 또는 차아염소산염(hypochlorite)의 수용액, 간략하게 염소 용액:과 결합한 방오 처리가 선호된다. 염소 용액을 광범위하게 사용하면 전체 처리시간 동안 자주 역삼투막(reverse osmosis membranes)에서 선택적 분리층(selective separating layer)이 거칠어지기 때문에, 염소 용액을 광범위하게 사용하면 궁극적으로 분리막이 파괴된다. 대부분, 이러한 모든 절차에서는 중단 길이의 차이는 있지만, 기술 과정이 중단되고, 소독제 및 세척제, 항생제, 에너지 및 시간이 많이 소요된다. 궁극적으로 상당히 짧은 공정 시간 후에 분리막이 교환되어야 한다. 지금까지 알려진 습식-화학 방법(wet-chemical method)에 의하여 막 표면을 변형하면, 사실상 생물 부착(biofouling)을 야기하는 미생물 성장의 억제, 미생물 부착의 감소 및 생체 고분자의 흡착 감소를 유도할 수는 있지만, 생물 부착(biofouling)을 완전히 제거할 수 없다. 예를 들면, 주로 역삼투에서 사용되는, 기수(brackish water) 및 해수(sea water)로부터 담수화한 물을 얻는 박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)에서, 가수분해, 산, 알칼리 및 산화에 민감한 막 층은 막 특성에 큰 변화없이 반응성 용매 중간상(reactive solvent intermediate phase)에서 습식-화학적으로 변형될 수 없거나 또는 큰 제약 하에서만 변형될 수 있다. 방오성을 갖는 막을 제조하기 위해, 또한 리빙 제어 그래프트 중합(controlled living graft polymerisation)이 이용될 수 있다. WO2010/015599 A1, CA 2,732,873 A1, CN 102112214A, EP 2 313 184 A1, EP 2 313 184 B1, US 8,544,658 B1, US 2011/0189469 A1에, 예를 들면, 라디칼 첨가-분절-사슬-이동 중합(radical addition-fragmentation-chain-transfer polymerisation: RAFT), 브롬기(bromine group) 및 클로로알킬기(chloroalkyl group)에서의 라디칼 원자 이동 중합(radical atom transfer polymerisation) 및 니트록시드기(nitroxide group)에 의해 매개되는 라디칼 그래프트 중합(radical graft polymerisation)과 같은, 막 물질에서 중합된 개시 그룹(initialisation groups)에서 시작되는 리빙 그래프트 중합(living graft polymerisation)이 공지되어 있다. 습식-화학적으로 전처리된 막 표면에서의 리빙 제어 그래프트 중합의 단점은 역삼투용 박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)의 분리 성능 및 투과성을 상당히 변화시킨다는 것이다.
본 발명의 목적은 막의 선택도(selectivity) 및 투수성(water permeability)을 손상하지 않고, 막의 방오 코팅을 제조하는 방법을 제공하는 것이다.
이 목적은 청구항 1의 특징을 갖는 방법 및 청구항 10의 특징을 갖는 박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)에 의해 달성된다. 청구항 15에서, 본 발명에 따른 용도가 제시된다. 추가 종속항은 유리한 발전을 보여준다.
본 발명에 따르면, 막의 방오성 코팅의 제조 방법이 제공되며,
- 제1 단계에서, 기상(gas phase)으로 전환될 수 있고 할로겐 기(halogen groups)를 통해 막 표면과 공유 결합하는 적어도 하나의 할로겐-유기 화합물(halogen-organic compound)의 플라즈마-화학적 활성화(plasma-chemical activation) 및/또는 광화학적 활성화에 의해 기상(gas phase)에서 막의 1차 분자 기능화(primary molecular functionalisation)가 일어나고, 플라즈마-화학적 활성화는 전기 직류 전압장(electrical direct voltage field) 또는 교류 전압장(alternating voltage field)에서의 활성화이며,
- 제2 단계에서, 할로겐 원자를 유도하는 분자 그룹(halogen atom-derivatised molecular groups)을 가지는 기능화된 막의 습식-화학적 변형이 라디칼 그래프트 중합(radical graft polymerisation)에 의해 일어난다.
습식-화학적 변형은 액상(liquid phase), 바람직하게 알코올 수용액 및 알코올 용액에서 일어난다. 따라서, 본 발명에 따른 방법은 기상(gas phase) 반응에 의한 막 표면의 분자 기능화(molecular functionalisation)와 액상(liquid phase)에서의 라디칼 그래프트 중합(radical graft polymerisation)이 화학적으로 적합하게 조합되어 개선된 방오성을 갖는 물-여과막(water-filtration membrane)을 제조할 수 있다.
예를 들면 플라스마 처리에 의한 할로겐-함유 분자 그룹의 도입에 의해, 막 기능을 유지하면서 막 표면의 완만한 분자 기능화(gentle molecular functionalisation)가 이후 발생하는 중합 반응에 화학적으로 적응된다. 실제 방오성은 그래프트 중합에 의해 충분히 조밀하게 배치된 효과적인 화학 그룹(chemical group)이 견고하게 고정되어 달성된다.
기상(gas phase)의 분자 기능화(molecular functionalisation)에 있어서, 바람직하게 할로겐-유기 화합물(halogen-organic compound)이 이용된다. 이들은 바람직하게 알릴 할라이드(allyl halides), C1 내지 C8 알킬렌 할라이드(alkylene halides), 바람직하게 C1 내지 C4 알킬렌 할라이드, 특히 메틸렌 할라이드(methylene halides), C1 내지 C8 알킬 할라이드(alkyl halides), 바람직하게 C1 내지 C4 알킬 할라이드, 특히 메틸 할라이드(methyl halides) 및 그들의 혼합물로 이루어진 그룹에서 선택된다. 특히 프로필 브로마이드(propyl bromide), 에틸 브로마이드(ethyl bromide), 알릴 브로마이드(allyl bromide), 알릴 클로라이드(allyl chloride), 메틸렌 브로마이드(methylene bromide), 메틸렌 클로라이드(methylene chloride), 메틸 브로마이드(methyl bromide), 메틸 클로라이드(methyl chloride) 및 이들의 혼합물이 바람직하다. 놀랍게도 할로겐-유기 화합물(halogen-organic compound)을 이용하고 기상으로부터의 그것을 증착하여, 민감한 막 층을 매우 완만하게 변형할 수 있다는 것이 입증되었다. 화학적으로 유도될 작용기를 유지시키면서 플라즈마-화학적 활성화 및/또는 광적 활성화가 되면 막 위에 이들의 증착이 유도된다. 유기 라디칼(organic radicals)에 의해, 바람직하게 알킬렌 브릿지(alkylene bridges), 특히 메틸렌 기, 에틸렌 기 및 프로필렌 기에 의해 할로겐-유기 화합물(halogen-organic compound)의 공유 결합이 일어난다.
변형된 막의 표면에 결합되는 할로겐-유기 작용기(halogen-organic, functional groups)의 양은 일반적으로 제곱 나노미터당 0.01 내지 5, 바람직하게 제곱 나노미터당 0.1 내지 2이다.
또한, 할로겐-유기 화합물(halogen-organic compound)의 할로겐 원자는 광 화학적으로(photochemically) 또는 촉매적으로(catalyticall), 특히 Cu(I) 착물(Cu(I) complexes), Cu(II) 착물(Cu(II) complexes) 또는 Ru(III) 착물(Ru(III) complexes)에 의해 분리되는 반면, 알켄(alkene)으로 시작될 수 있는 라디칼 그래프트 중합(radical graft polymerisation), 특히 리빙 원자-이동 중합(living atom-transfer polymerisation; ATRP)의 결과로, 고정된 라디칼(immobilised radicals)을 형성하는 것이 바람직하다.
리빙 제어 원자-이동 중합(living, controlled atom-transfer polymerisation)은 사슬 절단 반응(chain breakage reaction)이 과도하게 억압될 때까지, 전이금속 착물이 첨가되고 할로겐-유기 화합물(halogen-organic compound)로 원자-이동 과정(atom-transfer process)과 결합하여 자유 라디칼(free radical)의 농도가 낮아지는 사실에 특색을 가진다. 리빙 중합(living polymerisation)은 절단 반응이 존재하지 않는 중합으로 이해된다. "리빙 조건(living conditions)" 하에서, 좁은 분포로 몰 질량을 제어할 수 있다.
리빙 제어 원자-이동 중합 반응은 바람직하게 알코올 수용액에서 수행되며, 알코올은 바람직하게 메탄올, 에탄올, 프로판올, 이소프로판올, n-부탄올 및 이들의 혼합물의 그룹에서 선택된다.
ATRP의 경우, 반응 온도는 바람직하게 10 내지 80℃, 바람직하게 20 내지 50℃의 온도이다.
ATRP는 바람직하게 상압에서 수행된다.
ATRP의 경우, 전이금속 착물로서, 바람직하게 구리(I) 착물, 특히 CuBr이 이용된다.
원자-이동 중합에 의해, 바람직하게 배향된, 올리고머 물질(oligomeric substances) 또는 중합체 물질(polymeric substances)이 막 위에 결합한다. 여기에는, 휴믹산(humic acid) 및 미생물의 생체 고분자, 바람직하게 단백질의 결합을 방해하거나 방지하는 층을 형성하는 폴리아크릴레이트(polyacrylates), 폴리메타크릴레이트(polymethacrylates) 및 기타 폴리비닐(polyvinyls)이 포함된다. '배향된(orientated)'은 표면-개시(surface-initiating), 공유결합된 할로겐 원자, 바람직하게 브롬 원자 및 염소 원자로부터 시작된 고분자 사슬이 변형될 막 표면으로부터 멀리 배향되도록 제어된 방식으로 중합하며, 즉 이렇게 자체-편성(self-organising) 방식으로 스스로 성장하며 배향하고, 이와 같이 생성된 중합체 브러시(polymer brushes)의 밀도는 할로겐 원자의 밀도 및 배열과 중합체 사슬 기하학을 통해 결정된다. ATRP의 경우, 중합 반응 동안 할로겐 원자와 성장하는 중합체 사슬 사이에서 단량체 분자가 이동(shift)되어 전자(할로겐 원자)가 항상 중합체 사슬의 말단에 위치함으로써 중합 방향을 규정한다.
본 발명에 따른 방법의 제2 단계에서, 바람직하게 단량체로서, 2-히드록시에틸 메타크릴레이트(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate; HEMA), 2-메타크릴로일옥시에틸 포스포릴콜린(2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine) (97%, MPC) 또는 [2-(메타크릴로일옥시)에틸]디메틸-(3-설포프로필) 암모늄 하이드록사이드([2-(methacry loyloxy)ethyl]dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl) ammonium hydroxide) 또는 이들 화합물의 혼합물이 사용된다.
일반적으로, 브롬-유기 화합물 및 염소-유기 화합물, 바람직하게 할로겐 원자가 알킬렌 기의 말단에 결합되는 화합물이 개시제(initiators)로서 이용될 수 있으며, 바람직하게 에틸-α-브로모이소부틸레이트(ethyl-α-bromoisobutyrate)가 이용된다.
바람직하게, 1차 분자 기능화(primary molecular functionalisation)는 대기압, 특히 100 내지 1,000 mbar의 압력 범위 또는 진공, 특히 0.01 mbar 내지 100 mbar의 압력 범위에서 및 10 내지 150℃, 특히 20 내지 50℃의 온도에서, 기상(gas phase)에서 수행된다. 직류 전압 방전(direct voltage-discharge), 교류 전압 방전(alternating voltage-discharge), 고주파 방전(high frequency-discharge) 또는 마이크로파 방전(microwave discharge)에 의해 플라즈마가 생성될 수 있거나 전자 싸이클로트론 공명 플라즈마(electron cyclotron resonance plasma)로서 플라즈마가 구현될 수 있다.
막 물질 또는 막 표면의 물질은 바람직하게 폴리우레탄(polyurethane), 폴리아미드(polyamide) 또는 폴리우레아(polyureas)로 이루어진 그룹으로부터 선택된다. 이들 물질은 바람직하게 주로 방향족 구조를 갖는다.
본 발명에 따르면, 폴리아미드(polyamide), 폴리우레탄(polyurethane), 폴리우레아(polyureas) 또는 이의 블렌드 또는 혼합물로 제조되고, 10 내지 500nm 범위의 층 두께를 갖는 적어도 하나의 분리층; 적어도 하나의 추가 중합체 층; 및 중합체 캐리어 구조(polymeric carrier structure);를 갖는 박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)가 제공된다. 분리층은 전술한 방오 코팅을 갖는다. 바람직하게, 분리층은 방향족 폴리아미드(aromatic polyamides)로 이루어진다.
박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)은 바람직하게 50 내지 300nm 범위의 두께를 갖는 분리층; 30 내지 100㎛ 범위의 두께를 갖는 적어도 하나의 추가 중합체 층; 및 50 내지 100㎛의 범위의 두께를 갖는 중합체 캐리어 구조;를 가진다.
박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)의 분리 특성 및 투과성이 20% 이상 저하되지 않고, 바람직하게 제어된 성장 중합(controlled growth polymerisation)에 의해 생성된 폴리비닐(polyvinyls), 폴리아크릴레이트(polyacrylates) 및/또는 폴리메타크릴레이트(polymethacrylates)의 말단 중합체 사슬 밀도가 0.01 내지 2 중합체 사슬, 특히 바람직하게 0.05 내지 1 중합체 사슬인, 적어도 하나의 분리층이 변형된다.
적어도 하나의 추가 중합체 층은 바람직하게 폴리설폰(polysulfone), 폴리에테르설폰(polyethersulfone), 폴리아크릴로니트릴(polyacrylonitrile), 셀룰로오스 아세테이트(cellulose acetate), 폴리이미드(polyimide), 폴리에테르 이미드(polyether imide) 또는 이들 중합체의 혼합물 또는 공중합체를 포함하거나 필수적으로 이들로 이루어진다. 일반적으로, 또한 다른 비대칭막-형성 중합체(asymmetrical membrane-forming polymers)가 이용될 수 있다. 바람직하게, 적어도 하나의 추가 중합체 층은 폴리설폰(polysulfone) 또는 폴리에테르설폰(polyethersulfone)으로 이루어진다.
바람직하게, 적어도 하나의 캐리어 구조(carrier structure)는 체 메쉬(sieve mesh), 직물(woven fabric), 다공성 층(porous layer) 또는 이들의 조합으로 이루어진다. 이들은 폴리에스테르(polyester), 폴리아미드(polyamide), 폴리올레핀(polyolefin) 또는 다른 중합체 쓰레드 물질(polymeric thread material)로 형성될 수 있다. 바람직하게, 중합체 쓰레드 물질(polymeric thread material)은 폴리에스테르(polyester)로 이루어진다. 바람직하게, 캐리어 구조는 체 메쉬(sieve mesh)이다.
본 발명에 따른 막은 수처리(water treatment), 특히 음용수 제조, 공업용수의 공급 및 폐수 정화 또는 식품 및 생물공학에 사용된다.
본 발명에 따른 방법에 따라 제조된 막의 장점은 높은 분리 성능 및 투과성을 갖는 우수한 방오성에 있다. 따라서, 본 발명에 따른 방법에 의해 특히 내구성이 높은 선택적인 막이 제공되므로 더 이상 막을 자주 교체할 필요가 없어 비용이 절감된다.
본 발명에 따른 대상은 상기 대상을 본원에 여기에 예시된 특정한 실시 양태로 제한하지 않고 후속 실시예를 참조하여 더욱 상세히 설명하고자 한다.
실시예
1
기상에서 브롬-함유 분자 그룹을 도입하여 기능화
저압 플라즈마에서 역삼투막(reverse osmosis membranes)의 브롬 기능화를 위해, 알릴 브로마이드(allyl bromide), 브로모포름(bromoform) 및 1-브로모프로판(1-bromopropane)을 이용하였다. (기수(brackish water) 용, high rejection) 역삼투막은 IAB Ionenaustauscher GmbH, LANXESS AG에서 제공하였다. 막 표면의 완만한 브롬 기능화(gentle bromine functionalisation)를 위해, 저압 플라즈마로부터 브롬화된 탄화수소(brominated hydrocarbons)의 증착 또는 브롬화된 탄화수소로의 변형이 수행된다. 이 목적을 위해 막 샘플을 2개의 플레이트 전극(직경: 150mm, 간격: 100mm)의 하부에 고정하고 반응 챔버를 밀폐하였다. 원하는 공정 압력인 2 내지 4Pa에 도달할 때까지 0.1Pa의 부압을 설정한 후에 니들 밸브를 통해 알릴 브로마이드(allyl bromide), 브로모포름(bromoform) 또는 브로모프로판(bromopropane)을 도입하였다. 50 Hertz에서 두 전극 플레이트에 900~1,100V 범위의 정의된 전압을 인가하여 단량체 가스를 점화하였다. 표시된 공정 시간은 전압이 인가된 지속 시간에 해당한다. 1,100V의 전압 및 4Pa의 공정 압력에서 하나의 박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)의 각각 3개의 막 샘플을 알릴 브로마이드(allyl bromide), 브로모포름(bromoform) 또는 브로모프로판(bromopropane)으로 변형시켰다. Alfa Aesar로부터 알릴 브로마이드(allyl bromide)(99%, AB)를 얻어 이용하였다. 공정 시간은 5초였다. X선 광자 분광법(X-ray photon spectroscopy; XPS)에 의해 이렇게 코팅되거나 처리된 막에서 브롬을 검출할 수 있었다.
표 1은 표면에 가까운 원소 조성을 보여준다. 데이터는 원자 농도(atomic percentage)[at%]로 나타내었다. 편차는 3개의 평행 샘플에서 9개 측정 위치의 표준 편차이다.

막 표면의 분자 기능화 후 원자 이동을 이용한 라디칼
그래프트
중합
산소 배제하에 원자이동에 의한 라디칼 그래프트 중합(atom transfer radical polymerisation, ATRP)에 의해 막 표면에서 올리고머 또는 중합체가 성장하였다. 여기에 언급된 실시예에 있어서 방법의 기본 과정이 이후에 설명된다. 구리(I)브로마이드(CuBr, 순도>99.99%) 및 리간드 2,2'-비피리딘(2,2'-bipyridine) (bpy, 순도 99%, SigmaAldrich)을 원하는 양으로 혼합하고 Schlenk 플라스크로 옮긴 후 반복하여 질소로 퍼징하여 기체를 제거하였다. 유사하게, 각각 이용된 단량체 2-메타크릴로일옥시에틸 포스포릴콜린(2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphoryl choline)(97%, MPC) 또는 [2-(메타크릴로일옥시)에틸]디메틸-(3-설포프로필) 암모늄 하이드록사이드([2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl) ammonium hydroxide) (97%, SBMA)를 Schlenk 플라스크로 더 옮기고 기체를 제거하였다. 메탄올(99.9% p.a.) 및 2개 증류수를 각각 별도의 용기에 채우고 마찬가지로 기체를 제거하였다. 그 후, 사용된 모든 용기를 아르곤 대기(> 99%)가 있는 흄 후드 박스(fume hood box)로 로크(lock)를 통해 옮겼다. 다음 단계로서, CuBr 및 bpy를 메탄올에 용해시켜 반응액 1을 제조하였다. 교반하여 완전히 용해시킨 후, 진한 적색의 반응액을 얻었다. 모노머를 물에 용해시켜 반응액 2를 제조하였다. 반응액 1을 반응액 2에 넣고 약 30초 동안 교반하였다. 이어서, 유리(free)되고 용해된 개시제 에틸-α-브로모이소부틸레이트(ethyl-α-bromoisobutyrate)(98%, EBIB)를 첨가하고, 생성된 용액을 약 30초 동안 교반하였다. 이 용액을 특히 막 변형을 위해 고안된 반응 용기에 넣는다. 둥글게 되도록 잘라낸 막 샘플(직경 약 75mm)의 한쪽만 반응액과 접촉할 수 있게 다르게 설계된 반응 셀에서 막 샘플을 느슨하게 저장하거나 늘렸다. 반응 용기를 흄 후드 박스의 내부에 위치한, 온도가 10 내지 60℃로 조절된 공기 온도조절기로 옮겨 반응의 온도를 조절하였다. 반응 시간이 끝난 후, 막 샘플을 먼저 반응에 사용된 비율에 따른 메탄올-물 혼합물로 조심스럽게 헹구고, 이어서 순수한 물로 헹구었다. 이어서 샘플을 건조시켰다.
실시예
2.1
알릴 브로마이드(allyl bromide)로 기능화된 막 위에서 폴리-2-히드록시에틸메타크릴레이트(poly-2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate)(poly-HEMA)와 폴리[2-(메타크릴로일옥시)에틸]디메틸-(3-술포프로판)(poly[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]dimethyl-(3-sulfopropane))(poly-SBMA)를 중합하였다. 제제의 농도는 50mmol/1 HEMA 또는 SBMA, 1mmol/1 EBIB, 1mmol/1 CuBr 및 2mmol/1 bpy이었다. 메탄올과 물의 9:1 혼합물을 용매로 이용하였다. 반응 지속시간은 20℃에서 1.5시간, 3시간 및 20시간이었다. XPS에 의해, 반응시간의 함수로서 막 표면의 산소 함량(HEMA) 또는 막 표면의 황 함량(SBMA)의 증가를 측정할 수 있었다.
표 2는 실시예 2.1에 따른 ATRP-변형 막 샘플의 표면 조성을 나타낸다. 데이터는 원자 농도(atomic percentage)[at%]로 나타낸다. 편차는 4개 측정 위치에서 구현된 분석의 표준 편차이다.

2.2
브로모포름(BF) 또는 브로모프로판(BP)으로 기능화된 막 위에서 폴리-2-메타크릴로일옥시에틸 포스포릴콜린(poly-2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine) (poly-MPC)을 중합하였다. 50mmol/1 MPC, 1mmol/1 EBIB, 1mmol/1 CuBr 및 2mmol/1 bpy를 첨가하였다. 물과 메탄올의 1:1 혼합물을 용매로 사용하였다. 반응 지속시간은 20℃에서 2시간이었다.
XPS에 의해, 중합된 단량체의 양과 상관관계가 있는, 막 표면의 인(phosphorus) 함량의 증가를 검출할 수 있다. 이용가능한 개시 그룹(initialisation groups)의 표면 농도가 사실상 일정하기 때문에, 평균 중합도(average polymerisation degree)는 결합된 인(phosphorus)의 양으로부터 도출될 수 있다.
표 3은 실시예 2.2에 따른 ATRP-변형 막 샘플의 표면 조성을 나타낸다. 데이터는 원자 농도(atomic percentage)[at%]로 나타낸다. 편차는 3개 측정 위치에서 구현된 분석의 표준 편차이다.

실시예
2.3
알릴 브로마이드(allyl bromide)로 기능화된 막 위에서 poly-BSMA를 중합하였다. 50mmol/1 SBMA, 1mmol/1 EBIB, 1mmol/1 CuBr 및 2mmol/1 bpy를 사용하였다. 또한, 환원제로서 반응액에 20mmol/1 글루코오스를 첨가하였다. 물과 메탄올의 1:1 혼합물을 용매로 사용하였다. 반응 시간은 20시간이었다. 반응 온도는 20℃, 35℃ 또는 50℃였다. XPS에 의해, 반응 온도의 함수로서 막 표면의 황 함량의 증가를 검출할 수 있으며, 이를 통해 그래프트된 중합체 사슬의 달성된 분자량의 측정치가 제공될 수 있다.
표 4는 실시예 2.3에 따른 ATRP-변형 막 샘플의 표면 조성을 나타낸다. 데이터는 원자 농도(atomic percentage)[at%]로 나타낸다. 지시된 표준 편차는 막 표면상의 3개 위치에서 측정된 값으로부터 생성된다.

Claims (15)
- 역삼투(reverse osmosis), 나노여과(nanofiltration) 및 한외여과(ultrafiltration)용 박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)의 방오 코팅의 제조방법으로서,
- 제1 단계에서, 기상(gas phase)으로 변환가능하고 막 표면에서 공유 결합이 가능한 적어도 하나의 할로겐-유기 화합물(halogen-organic compound)의 플라즈마-화학 활성화(plasma-chemical activation) 및/또는 광화학 활성화(photochemical activation)에 의해 기상(gas phase)에서의 막의 1차 분자 기능화(primary molecular functionalisation)가 일어나며
- 제2 단계에서, 라디칼 그래프트 중합(radical graft polymerisation)에 의해 기능화된 막의 습식-화학적 변형(wet-chemical modification)이 일어나는, 역삼투, 나노여과 및 한외여과용 박막 복합막의 방오 코팅의 제조방법. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 적어도 하나의 할로겐-유기 화합물(halogen-organic compound)은 알릴 할라이드(allyl halides), C1 내지 C8 알킬렌 할라이드(alkylene halides), 바람직하게 C1 내지 C4 알킬렌 할라이드, 특히 메틸렌 할라이드(methylene halides), C1 내지 C8 알킬 할라이드(alkyl halides), 바람직하게 C1 내지 C4 알킬 할라이드, 특히 메틸 할라이드(methyl halides) 및 이의 혼합물, 바람직하게 프로필 브로마이드(propyl bromide), 에틸 브로마이드(ethyl bromide), 알릴 브로마이드(allyl bromide), 알릴 클로라이드(allyl chloride), 메틸렌 브로마이드(methylene bromide), 메틸렌 클로라이드(methylene chloride), 메틸 브로마이드(methyl bromide), 메틸 클로라이드(methyl chloride) 및 이들의 혼합물로 이루어진 그룹에서 선택되는, 역삼투, 나노여과 및 한외여과용 박막 복합막의 방오 코팅의 제조방법. - 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서,
상기 공유 결합은 알킬렌 브릿지(alkylene bridges) 및 이의 유도체를 통해 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는, 역삼투, 나노여과 및 한외여과용 박막 복합막의 방오 코팅의 제조방법. - 제1항 내지 제3항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
상기 1차 분자 기능화는 대기압, 특히 100 내지 1,000 mbar의 압력 범위 또는 0.01 내지 100 mbar의 압력 범위의 진공; 및 20 내지 150℃ 범위의 온도, 그러나 높아야 중합체 막 층의 분해 온도까지, 특히 20 내지 40℃의 온도 범위;에서 수행되는, 역삼투, 나노여과 및 한외여과용 박막 복합막의 방오 코팅의 제조방법. - 제1항 내지 제4항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
플라즈마-화학적 처리는 직류 전압 방전(direct voltage-discharge), 교류 전압 방전(alternating voltage-discharge), 고주파 방전(high frequency-discharge) 또는 마이크로파 방전(microwave discharge) 또는 전자 싸이클로트론 공명 플라즈마(electron cyclotron resonance plasma; ECR)에 의해 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는, 역삼투, 나노여과 및 한외여과용 박막 복합막의 방오 코팅의 제조방법. - 제1항 내지 제5항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
상기 할로겐-유기 화합물(halogen-organic compound)의 할로겐 원자는, 바람직하게 고정된 라디칼의 형성 하에서 선택된 리간드, 바람직하게 여러자리 리간드(polydentate ligand), 바람직하게 여러자리 아민-리간드(polydentate amine-ligand) 및 피리딘 리간드(pyridine ligand)와 함께, 광화학적으로(photochemically) 또는 촉매 효과, 바람직하게 Cu(I) 착물 및 Cu(II) 착물 및 또한 Ru(III) 착물의 촉매 효과에 의해 분할되는 것을 특징으로 하는, 역삼투, 나노여과 및 한외여과용 박막 복합막의 방오 코팅의 제조방법. - 제6항에 있어서,
공유결합된 할로겐 원자로부터 출발하여, 알켄에서 시작되는 라디칼 그래프트 중합(radical graft polymerisation), 특히 리빙 제어 원자-이동 중합(living, controlled atom-transfer polymerisation)에 기반을 두고, 고정된 라디칼(immobilised radicals)이 생성되고, 반응은 10 내지 80℃, 바람직하게 20 내지 50℃의 온도 및 상압에서 구리(I) 착물의 존재하에 알코올 수용액 중에서 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는, 역삼투, 나노여과 및 한외여과용 박막 복합막의 방오 코팅의 제조방법. - 제7항에 있어서,
라디칼 그래프트 중합(radical graft polymerisation)에 의해, 휴믹산(humic acid) 및 미생물의 생체 고분자, 바람직하게 단백질의 결합을 방해 또는 방지하는 층을 형성하는, 올리고머 물질(oligomeric substances) 또는 중합체 물질(polymeric substances), 바람직하게 폴리아크릴레이트(polyacrylates), 폴리메타크릴레이트(polymethacrylates) 및 기타 폴리비닐(polyvinyl)이 막 표면, 바람직하게 할로겐 원자에 결합하고 막 표면에서 배향된 작용기에서 시작하여 성장하는 것을 특징으로 하는, 역삼투, 나노여과 및 한외여과용 박막 복합막의 방오 코팅의 제조방법. - 제1항 내지 제8항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
상기 막은 변형될 막 표면 및 각각 바람직하게 방향족 구조를 가지는, 폴리아미드(polyamide), 폴리우레탄(polyurethane) 또는 폴리우레아(polyureas) 및 그들의 복합 재료(composite material)로 이루어진 변형될 적어도 막 표면을 가지는, 역삼투, 나노여과 및 한외여과용 박막 복합막의 방오 코팅의 제조방법. - 박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)으로서,
- 폴리아미드(polyamide), 폴리우레탄(polyurethane) 또는 폴리우레아(polyureas)로 형성되고 10 내지 500nm 범위의 층 두께를 가지는, 적어도 하나의 분리층,
- 적어도 하나의 추가 중합체 층, 및
- 중합체 캐리어 구조(polymeric carrier structure)를 포함하고,
상기 분리층은 제1항 내지 제9항 중 어느 한 항에 따라 제조 가능한 방오 코팅을 가지는, 박막 복합막. - 제10항에 있어서,
상기 분리층의 두께는 50 내지 300nm의 범위 및/또는 상기 적어도 하나의 중합체 층의 두께는 30 내지 100㎛ 범위 및/또는 상기 중합체 캐리어 구조(polymeric carrier structure)의 두께는 50 내지 100㎛ 범위인, 박막 복합막. - 제10항 또는 제11항에 있어서,
박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)의 분리 특성 및 투과성이 20% 이상 저해되지 않으면서, 상기 적어도 하나의 분리층은 제어된 성장 중합(controlled growth polymerisation)에 의해 생성된 폴리비닐(polyvinyls), 폴리아크릴레이트(polyacrylates) 및/또는 폴리메타크릴레이트(polymethacrylates)의, 0.01 내지 2 중합체 사슬, 바람직하게 0.05 내지 1 중합체 사슬의 말단 중합체 사슬 밀도로 변형되는 것을 특징으로 하는, 박막 복합막. - 제10항 내지 제12항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
상기 적어도 하나의 추가 중합체 층은 폴리설폰(polysulfone), 폴리에테르설폰(polyethersulfone), 폴리아크릴로니트릴(polyacrylonitrile), 셀룰로오스 아세테이트(cellulose acetate), 폴리이미드(polyimide), 폴리에테르이미드(polyetherimide) 또는 혼합물로서 이들 중합체의 조합 또는 공중합체를 포함하거나 본질적으로 이들로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는, 박막 복합막. - 제10항 내지 제13항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
적어도 하나의 캐리어 구조(carrier structure)는 체 메쉬(sieve mesh), 직물(woven fabric), 다공성 층(porous layer) 또는 이들의 조합으로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는, 박막 복합막. - 제10항 내지 제14항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 박막 복합막(thin-film composite membranes)의 용도로서, 역삼투(reverse osmosis) 및 나노여과(nanofiltration)에 의한 수처리(water treatment), 특히 음용수 제조, 공업용수의 공급 및 폐수 정화 또는 식품 및 생물공학에서의 용도.
