실시예는 태양전지 모듈 및 이의 제조방법을 제공한다. 실시예에 따른 태양전지 모듈은 지지기판 상에 순차적으로 배치되는 후면 전극층, 광 흡수층 및 전면 전극층을 포함하는 다수개의 태양전지 셀들; 상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들 사이에 배치되며, 세라믹 입자를 포함하는 광 경로 변환부; 및 상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들 상에 배치되는 고분자층을 포함한다.
Description
실시예는 태양전지 모듈 및 이의 제조방법에 관한 것이다.
최근 심각한 환경 오염 문제와 화석 에너지 고갈로 인해, 신·재생에너지에 대한 필요성 및 관심이 고조되고 있다. 그 중에서도 태양전지는 공해가 적고, 자원이 무한하며 반 영구적인 수명을 가지고 있어 미래 에너지 문제를 해결할 수 있는 무공해 에너지 원으로 기대되고 있다.
태양전지는 p-n 접합 다이오드에 빛을 쪼이면 전자가 생성 되는 광기전력 효과(photovoltaic effect)를 이용하여 빛 에너지를 전기 에너지로 변환시키는 소자로 정의할 수 있다. 태양전지는 접합 다이오드로 사용되는 물질에 따라, 실리콘 태양전지, I-III-VI족 또는 III-V족 화합물로 대표되는 화합물 반도체 태양전지, 염료감응 태양전지, 유기물 태양전지로 나눌 수 있다.
I-III-VI족 Chalcopyrite계 화합물 반도체 중 하나인 CIGS(CuInGaSe) 태양전지는 광 흡수가 뛰어나고, 얇은 두께로도 높은 광전 변환효율을 얻을 수 있으며, 전기 광학적 안정성이 매우 우수하여 기존 실리콘 태양전지를 대체할 수 있는 태양전지로 부각되고 있다.
태양전지 모듈에서 생성되는 전기량은 빛의 양에 비례한다. 따라서, 태양전지 모듈의 효율을 높이기 위해서는, 태양전지의 광 흡수층으로 입사되는 태양광의 최대한 증가시킬 수 있는 구조가 필요하다. 이와 관련하여, 커버 글라스(cover glass) 표면에 돌기 처리를 하거나, 반사 방지막을 코팅 하는 등 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다.
실시예는 향상된 광-전 변환 효율을 가지는 태양전지 모듈을 제공하고자 한다.
실시예에 따른 태양전지 모듈은 지지기판 상에 순차적으로 배치되는 후면 전극층, 광 흡수층 및 전면 전극층을 포함하는 다수개의 태양전지 셀들; 상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들 사이에 배치되며, 세라믹 입자를 포함하는 광 경로 변환부; 및 상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들 상에 배치되는 고분자층을 포함한다.
실시예에 따른 태양전지 모듈의 제조방법은 지지기판 상에 후면 전극층, 광 흡수층 및 전면 전극층을 순차적으로 형성하는 단계; 상기 광 흡수층 및 상기 전면 전극층을 패터닝하여 다수개의 태양전지들을 형성하는 단계; 상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들 사이에 세라믹 입자를 포함하는 광 경로 변환부를 형성하는 단계; 및 상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들 상에 고분자층을 형성하는 단계를 포함한다.
실시예에 따른 태양전지 모듈은 태양전지 셀들 사이에 광 경로 변환부를 형성함으로써, 광 경로 변환부로 입사되는 태양광을 주변의 광 흡수층으로 출사시킬 수 있다. 이에 따라, 광 흡수층으로 입사되는 광량은 증가될 수 있으며, 실시예에 따른 태양전지 모듈의 광-전 변환 효율을 향상될 수 있다.
도 1 내지 도 8은 실시예에 따른 태양전지 모듈의 제조방법을 도시한 단면도들이다.
실시예의 설명에 있어서, 각 기판, 층, 막 또는 전극 등이 각 기판, 층, 막, 또는 전극 등의 "상(on)"에 또는 "아래(under)"에 형성되는 것으로 기재되는 경우에 있어, "상(on)"과 "아래(under)"는 "직접(directly)" 또는 "다른 구성요소를 개재하여(indirectly)" 형성되는 것을 모두 포함한다. 또한 각 구성요소의 상 또는 아래에 대한 기준은 도면을 기준으로 설명한다. 도면에서의 각 구성요소들의 크기는 설명을 위하여 과장될 수 있으며, 실제로 적용되는 크기를 의미하는 것은 아니다.
도 1 내지 도 8은 실시예에 따른 태양전지 모듈의 제조방법을 도시한 단면도들이다.
도 1을 참조하면, 지지기판(100) 상에 후면 전극층(200)이 형성된다. 상기 후면 전극층(200)은 PVD(Physical Vapor Deposition) 또는 도금의 방법으로 형성될 수 있다.
상기 지지기판(100)은 플레이트 형상을 가지며, 상기 후면 전극층(200), 상기 광 흡수층(300), 상기 버퍼층(400), 상기 고저항 버퍼층(500), 상기 전면 전극층(600), 상기 접속 배선(700), 광 경로 변환부(800) 및 고분자층(900)를 지지한다. 상기 지지기판(100)은 투명할 수 있고, 리지드하거나 플렉서블할 수 있다.
상기 지지기판(100)은 절연체일 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 지지기판(100)은 유리기판, 플라스틱기판 또는 금속기판일 수 있다. 더 자세하게, 상기 지지기판(100)은 소다 라임 글래스(soda lime glass) 기판일 수 있다. 이와는 다르게, 상기 지지기판(100)의 재질로 알루미나와 같은 세라믹 기판, 스테인레스 스틸, 유연성이 있는 고분자 등이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 후면 전극층(200)은 상기 지지기판(100) 상에 배치된다. 상기 후면 전극층(200)은 도전층이다. 상기 후면 전극층(200)은 몰리브덴(Mo), 금(Au), 알루미늄(Al), 크롬(Cr), 텅스텐(W) 및 구리(Cu) 중 어느 하나로 형성될 수 있다. 이 가운데, 특히 몰리브덴(Mo)은 다른 원소에 비해 상기 지지기판(100)과 열팽창 계수의 차이가 적기 때문에, 접착성이 우수하여 박리현상이 발생하는 것을 방지할 수 있다.
상기 후면 전극층(200)은 제 1 관통홈(P1)을 포함한다. 상기 제 1 관통홈(P1)에 의하여, 상기 후면 전극층(200)은 다수개의 후면 전극들(210, 220..)로 구분될 수 있다.
도 2를 참조하면, 상기 후면 전극층(200) 상에 광 흡수층(300), 버퍼층(400), 고저항 버퍼층(500)을 형성한다.
상기 광 흡수층(300)은 예를 들어, 구리, 인듐, 갈륨, 셀레늄을 동시 또는 구분하여 증발시키면서 구리-인듐-갈륨-셀레나이드계(Cu(In,Ga)Se2;CIGS계)의 광 흡수층(300)을 형성하는 방법과 금속 프리커서 막을 형성시킨 후 셀레니제이션(Selenization) 공정에 의해 형성시키는 방법이 폭넓게 사용되고 있다.
금속 프리커서 막을 형성시킨 후 셀레니제이션 하는 것을 세분화하면, 구리 타겟, 인듐 타겟, 갈륨 타겟을 사용하는 스퍼터링 공정에 의해서, 상기 이면전극(200) 상에 금속 프리커서 막이 형성된다. 이후, 상기 금속 프리커서 막은 셀레니제이션(selenization) 공정에 의해서, 구리-인듐-갈륨-셀레나이드계(Cu(In, Ga)Se2; CIGS계)의 광 흡수층(300)이 형성된다.
이와는 다르게, 상기 구리 타겟, 인듐 타겟, 갈륨 타겟을 사용하는 스퍼터링 공정 및 상기 셀레니제이션 공정은 동시에 진행될 수 있다.
이와는 다르게, 구리 타겟 및 인듐 타겟 만을 사용하거나, 구리 타겟 및 갈륨 타겟을 사용하는 스퍼터링 공정 및 셀레니제이션 공정에 의해서, CIS계 또는 CIG계 광 흡수층(300)이 형성될 수 있다.
이후, 상기 버퍼층(400)은 상기 광 흡수층(300) 상에 황화 카드뮴이 화학 용액 증착법(chemical bath deposition; CBD)에 의해서 증착 되어 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 버퍼층(400)은 황화 카드뮴, ZnS, InXSY 및 InXSeYZn(O, OH) 등을 포함할 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다. 상기 버퍼층(400)의 두께는 약 50 ㎚ 내지 약 150 ㎚ 일 수 있으며, 상기 버퍼층(400)의 에너지 밴드갭은 약 2.2 eV 내지 2.4 eV 일 수 있다.
또한, 상기 버퍼층(400) 상에 징크 옥사이드가 스퍼터링 공정 등에 의해서 증착 되고, 상기 고저항 버퍼층(500)이 형성된다. 상기 고저항 버퍼층(500)은 불순물이 도핑 되지 않은 징크 옥사이드(i-ZnO)를 포함한다. 상기 고저항 버퍼층(500)의 에너지 밴드갭은 약 3.1 eV 내지 약 3.3 eV 일 수 있다. 또한, 상기 고저항 버퍼층(500)은 생략될 수 있다.
도 3을 참조하면, 상기 광 흡수층(400), 상기 버퍼층(500) 및 상기 고저항 버퍼층(600)에는 제 2 관통홈(P2)이 형성된다. 즉, 상기 제 2 관통홈(P2)은 상기 광 흡수층(400), 상기 버퍼층(500) 및 상기 고저항 버퍼층(600)을 관통한다. 상기 제 2 관통홈(P2)은 기계적인(mechnical) 방법으로 형성할 수 있으며, 상기 제 2 관통홈(P2)의 폭은 약 80 ㎛ 내지 약 200 ㎛ 일 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다. 상기 제 2 관통홈(P2)에 의하여, 상기 후면 전극층(200)의 일부가 노출된다.
도 4를 참조하면, 상기 고저항 버퍼층(500) 상에 투명한 도전물질을 적층하여 전면 전극층(600)을 형성한다.
상기 전면 전극층(600)은 n 형 반도체의 특성을 가질 수 있다. 이 때, 상기 전면 전극층(600)은 상기 버퍼층(400)과 함께 n 형 반도체층을 형성하여 p 형 반도체층인 상기 광 흡수층(300)과 pn 접합을 형성할 수 있다. 상기 전면 전극층(600)은, 예를 들어, 알루미늄 도핑된 징크 옥사이드(AZO)로 형성될 수 있다. 상기 전면 전극층(600)의 두께는 약 100 nm 내지 약 500 nm 일 수 있다.
예를 들어, 상기 전면 전극층(600)은 RF 스퍼터링 방법으로 ZnO 타겟을 사용하여 증착 하는 방법과 Zn 타겟을 이용한 반응성 스퍼터링, 또는 유기금속화학증착법 등으로 형성될 수 있다.
또한, 상기 전면 전극층(600)이 형성됨과 동시에, 접속 배선(700)이 형성될 수 있다. 즉, 투명한 도전물질을 상기 고저항 버퍼층(500) 상에 적층 시키는 과정에서, 상기 투명한 도전물질은 상기 제 2 관통홈(P2)의 내부에도 갭필되어 상기 접속배선(700)을 형성할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 상기 접속배선(700)은 상기 후면 전극층(200)과 상기 전면 전극층(600)을 전기적으로 연결시킨다.
도 5를 참조하면, 상기 전면전극층(600)은 제 3 관통홈들(P3)에 의해 관통된다. 상기 제 3 관통홈들(P3)은 기계적인(mechnical) 방법으로 형성할 수 있으며, 상기 후면전극층(200)의 일부가 노출된다. 예를 들어, 상기 제 3 관통홈들(P3)의 폭은 약 80 ㎛ 내지 약 200 ㎛ 일 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다. 상기 제 3 관통홈들(P3)에 의하여, 상기 전면 전극층(600)은 다수개의 전면 전극들로 구분될 수 있고, 복수개의 태양전지 셀들(C1, C2, C3..)은 정의될 수 있다.
도 6을 참조하면, 상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들(C1, C2, C3..) 사이에 광 경로 변환부(800)를 형성한다. 더 자세하게, 상기 광 경로 변환부(800)는 상기 제 3 관통홈들(P3) 내에 형성될 수 있다.
상기 광 경로 변환부(800)는 고분자층(900) 형성 전에, 상기 제 3 관통홈(P3)에 의해 노출되는 후면 전극층(200)을 선택적으로 봉지함으로써, 상기 후면 전극층(200)의 들뜸 현상을 방지하고, 신뢰성을 향상시킬 수 있다.
상기 광 경로 변환부(800)는 에틸렌비닐아세테이트(EVA), 폴리카보네이트(PC), 폴리에틸렌(PE), 폴리프로필렌(PP), 폴리비닐클로라이드(PVC), 폴리아미드(PA), 폴리에스테르(PET) 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 것으로 형성될 수 있다. 더 자세하게, 상기 광 경로 변환부(800)는 에틸렌비닐아세테이트(EVA) 또는 폴리카보네이트(PC)로 이루어질 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다.
상기 광 경로 변환부(800)는 세라믹 입자(810)를 포함한다. 더 자세하게, 상기 광 경로 변환부(800)는 다수개의 세라믹 입자들을 포함할 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다.
상기 세라믹 입자(810)는 TiO2, Al2O3, SiO2, Ta2O5, ZrO2 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 것으로 형성될 수 있다. 더 자세하게, 상기 세라믹 입자(810)는 TiO2 입자일 수 있다.
상기 세라믹 입자(810)의 직경은 약 50 nm 내지 약 100 nm 일 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다. 상기 세라믹 입자(810)의 직경이 약 50 nm 보다 작으면 레일리 산란(Rayleigh Scattering)에 의한 난반사보다 투과의 성질이 더 커질 수 있다. 또한, 상기 세라믹 입자(810)의 직경이 약 150 nm 보다 크면, 세라믹 입자(810)간의 응집으로 인해 태양광의 입사 자체를 방해할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 세라믹 입자(810)의 함량은 약 10 중량% 내지 약 30 중량% 일 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다. 상기 세라믹 입자(810)의 중량이 약 10 중량% 보다 작으면, 상기 세라믹 입자(810)에 의한 난반사 효과가 미미하고, 상기 세라믹 입자(810)의 중량이 약 30 중량% 이상이면, 상기 세라믹 입자(810)간의 응집으로 인해 태양광의 입사 자체를 방해할 수 있다.
상기 세라믹 입자(810)는 상기 광 경로 변환부(800)로 입사되는 태양광을 상기 광 흡수층(300)으로 가이드하는 기능을 할 수 있다. 도 7을 참조하면, 상기 광 경로 변환부(800)로 입사되는 입사광(L1)은 상기 세라믹 입자(810)에 의해 반사(L2)되어 모든 방향으로 출사된다. 상기 세라믹 입자(810)에 의해 반사되는 반사광(L2)은 상기 광 경로 변환부(800) 주변의 광 흡수층(300)으로 입사될 수 있다. 이에 따라, 상기 광 흡수층(300)으로 입사되는 광량은 증가될 수 있으며, 결국 실시예에 따른 태양전지 모듈은 상기 세라믹 입자(810)에 의해서 향상된 발전효율을 구현할 수 있다.
상기와 같이 세라믹 입자(810)를 포함하는 광 경로 변환부(800)는 광 경로 변환부(800)를 형성하는 폴리머 재료에 세라믹 입자(810)와 분산제를 함께 혼합하고, 상기 액상 혼합물을 도포한 후 열처리를 통한 경화 공정에 의해 제조될 수 있다.
도 8을 참조하면, 상기 다수개의 태양전 셀들(C1, C2..) 상에 고분자층(900)을 형성한다. 더 자세하게, 상기 고분자층(900)은 상기 전면 전극층(600)의 상면 및 상기 광 경로 변환부(800)의 상면 상에 직접 접촉될 수 있다.
상기 고분자층(900)은 외부의 물리적인 충격 및/또는 이물질로부터 다수개의 태양전지 셀들(C1, C2..)을 보호할 뿐만 아니라, 상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들(C1, C2..)과 상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들(C1, C2..) 상에 보호 패널(미도시) 간에 접착력을 향상시킬 수 있다.
상기 고분자층(900)은 당업계에서 통상적으로 사용되는 열가소성 고분자, 또는 열경화성 고분자 등이 사용될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 고분자층(900)은 에틸렌비닐아세테이트(EVA), 폴리카보네이트(PC), 폴리에틸렌(PE), 폴리프로필렌(PP), 폴리비닐클로라이드(PVC), 폴리아미드(PA), 폴리에스테르(PET) 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 것으로 형성될 수 있다. 더 자세하게, 상기 고분자층(900)은 에틸렌비닐아세테이트(EVA)로 형성될 수 있다. 또한, 상기 고분자층(900)은 상기 광 경로 변환부(800)와 동일한 물질, 예를 들어, 에틸렌비닐아세테이트(EVA)로 형성될 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다. 이와는 다르게, 상기 고분자층(900)은 광경화성 고분자를 사용할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 광경화성 고분자는 에폭시계 수지 또는 우레탄계 수지 사용할 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다.
이상에서 실시예들에 설명된 특징, 구조, 효과 등은 본 발명의 적어도 하나의 실시예에 포함되며, 반드시 하나의 실시예에만 한정되는 것은 아니다. 나아가, 각 실시예에서 예시된 특징, 구조, 효과 등은 실시예들이 속하는 분야의 통상의 지식을 가지는 자에 의해 다른 실시예들에 대해서도 조합 또는 변형되어 실시 가능하다. 따라서 이러한 조합과 변형에 관계된 내용들은 본 발명의 범위에 포함되는 것으로 해석되어야 할 것이다.
또한, 이상에서 실시예를 중심으로 설명하였으나 이는 단지 예시일 뿐 본 발명을 한정하는 것이 아니며, 본 발명이 속하는 분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 본 실시예의 본질적인 특성을 벗어나지 않는 범위에서 이상에 예시되지 않은 여러 가지의 변형과 응용이 가능함을 알 수 있을 것이다. 예를 들어, 실시예에 구체적으로 나타난 각 구성 요소는 변형하여 실시할 수 있는 것이다. 그리고 이러한 변형과 응용에 관계된 차이점들은 첨부된 청구 범위에서 규정하는 본 발명의 범위에 포함되는 것으로 해석되어야 할 것이다.
Claims (9)
- 지지기판 상에 순차적으로 배치되는 후면 전극층, 광 흡수층 및 전면 전극층을 포함하는 다수개의 태양전지 셀들;
상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들 사이에 배치되며, 세라믹 입자를 포함하는 광 경로 변환부; 및
상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들 상에 배치되는 고분자층을 포함하는 태양전지 모듈. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
상기 세라믹 입자는 TiO2, Al2O3, SiO2, Ta2O5, ZrO2 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 것인 태양전지 모듈.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,
상기 세라믹 입자의 직경은 50 nm 내지 100 nm 인 태양전지 모듈.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,
상기 세라믹 입자의 함량은 10 중량% 내지 30 중량% 인 태양전지 모듈.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,
상기 광 경로 변환부는 에틸렌비닐아세테이트(EVA) 또는 폴리카보네이트(PC)를 포함하는 태양전지 모듈.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,
상기 광 경로 변환부와 상기 고분자층은 동일한 물질로 형성되는 태양전지 모듈.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,
상기 세라믹 입자는 상기 광 경로 변환부로 입사되는 태양광을 상기 광 흡수층으로 가이드하는 태양전지 모듈.
- 지지기판 상에 후면 전극층, 광 흡수층 및 전면 전극층을 순차적으로 형성하는 단계;
상기 광 흡수층 및 상기 전면 전극층을 패터닝하여 다수개의 태양전지들을 형성하는 단계;
상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들 사이에 세라믹 입자를 포함하는 광 경로 변환부를 형성하는 단계; 및
상기 다수개의 태양전지 셀들 상에 고분자층을 형성하는 단계를 포함하는 태양전지 모듈의 제조방법.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,
상기 다수개의 태양전지들을 형성하는 단계는,
상기 광 흡수층 및 상기 전면 전극층을 관통하는 제3 관통홈을 형성하는 것을 포함하는 태양전지 모듈의 제조방법.
