Abstract
Conventional organic light emitting device fabrication includes semiconductor layer patterning, gate electrode patterning, first electrode patterning, formation of a plurality of contact holes on first and second interlayer insulating films, source and drain electrode patterning, and contact hole formation on a protective layer. By doing this, a total of six mask processes can be performed and completed.
However, in the manufacture of the organic light emitting device, since the mask process includes a photoresist coating, exposure, development, and etching, the more the mask process described above, the more the manufacturing cost and the processing time increase. As a result, the production yield is lowered, which leads to a problem of higher manufacturing costs.

The present invention relates to an organic electroluminescent device, and more particularly, to a method of manufacturing an organic electroluminescent device according to a low mask process.
The organic light emitting display device, which is one of the flat panel displays (FPDs), is self-luminous and thus has a better viewing angle, contrast, etc. than a liquid crystal display. It is also advantageous in that it is possible to drive DC low voltage, fast response speed, and all solid, so it is resistant to external shock, wide use temperature range, and especially inexpensive in terms of manufacturing cost.
Hereinafter, the basic structure and operation characteristics of the organic light emitting display device will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
1 is a diagram illustrating a basic pixel structure of a general organic light emitting display device.
As shown, gate wirings are formed in a first direction, and data wirings and power supply lines (PLS) are formed in a second direction crossing the first direction and spaced apart from each other. One subpixel area SP is defined.
A switching TFT (SwT), which is an addressing element, is formed at an intersection point of the gate wiring and the data wiring, and is connected to the switching thin film transistor SwT and the power supply wiring to form a storage capacitor C ST. Is formed, and is connected to the storage capacitor C ST and the power supply wiring to form a driving thin film transistor DrT, which is a current source element, and is connected to the driving thin film transistor DrT. An organic electroluminescent diode (E) is constructed.
In this case, when the organic light emitting diode (E) supplies current to the organic light emitting material in a forward direction, P (positive) -N (negative) between an anode electrode, which is a hole providing layer, and a cathode electrode, which is an electron providing layer, is applied. Since the electrons and holes are recombined with each other through the junction, they have less energy than when the electrons and holes are separated, and thus, the principle of emitting light due to the difference in energy generated at this time is used.
The organic light emitting diode is classified into a top emission type and a bottom emission type according to the direction of light emitted from the organic light emitting diode.
Hereinafter, FIG. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a conventional organic light emitting display device, and is illustrated based on one pixel area including red, green, and blue subpixels.
As shown in the drawing, the first and
The
The organic light emitting diode including the

As described above, the organic light emitting diode according to the embodiment of the present invention is formed under the organic light emitting layer, and the organic light emitting diode according to the related art is formed by forming a first electrode in contact with the substrate at the lowermost layer in contact with the drain electrode of the driving thin film transistor. In the present invention, an organic light emitting display device capable of omitting a contact hole for contact between a first electrode and a drain electrode provided in the interlayer insulating layer by omitting one of the first and second interlayer insulating layers formed of a double layer in the present invention is proposed. By simplifying the manufacturing process from the conventional six mask process to the five mask process there is an effect to improve the production yield and reduce the manufacturing cost.
In addition, in the organic light emitting device according to the present invention, the light emitting layer is easily deteriorated by the rough surface state of the first electrode formed on the interlayer insulating film having the rough surface state of the related art. The surface roughness of the first electrode is formed to be relatively smooth, thereby preventing degradation of the light emitting layer, thereby extending the life of the organic light emitting display device.
