Claims (6)
- 한 쌍의 기판 사이에 액정층을 유지하여 이루어지고, 하나의 도트 영역 내에 투과 표시를 행하는 투과 표시 영역과 반사 표시를 행하는 반사 표시 영역이 마련된 액정 표시 장치로서,상기 액정층은, 초기 배향 상태가 수직 배향을 나타내는 유전율 이방성이 부(負)의 액정으로 이루어지는 한편, 상기 한 쌍의 기판의 액정층 측에는 해당 액정을 구동하기 위한 전극이 각각 형성되고, 그 적어도 한쪽의 기판 측의 전극에는, 상기 액정의 배향을 규제하는 배향 규제 수단으로서, 해당 전극의 일부를 장방형으로 개구하여 형성한 슬릿 형상의 개구부, 및/또는 해당 전극 상에 형성된 유전체로 이루어지는 장방형의 볼록 형상부가 형성되어 이루어짐과 동시에,상기 한 쌍의 기판 중의 적어도 한쪽의 기판과 상기 액정층 사이에는, 상기 투과 표시 영역의 액정층 두께를 상기 반사 표시 영역의 액정층 두께보다도 크게 구성하기 위한 액정층 두께 조정층이 형성되고, 해당 액정층 두께 조정층은, 상기 투과 표시 영역과 상기 반사 표시 영역의 경계 부근에서, 자신의 층 두께가 연속적으로 변화하도록 경사면을 구비하여 이루어지고,상기 개구부 및/또는 볼록 형상부의 길이 방향과 상기 액정층 두께 조정층의 경사면의 길이 방향이, 평면적으로 교차하여 배치되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 개구부 및/또는 볼록 형상부의 길이 방향과 상기 액정층 두께 조정층의 경사면의 길이 방향이, 상기 기판의 법선 방향으로부터 평면에서 본 경우에 30°∼90°의 각도를 이루어 교차하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 경사면과 상기 기판 평면이 이루는 각이 2°∼30°인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 한 쌍의 기판으로서 상츠 기판과 하측 기판을 포함하며, 상기 하측 기판의 액정층과 반대측에는 투과 표시용의 백 라이트가 마련되고, 상기 하측 기판과 상기 액정층 사이에는, 상기 반사 표시 영역에 선택적으로 형성된 반사막이 배치되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 개구부 및/또는 볼록 형상부는, 상기 수직 배향한 액정 분자의 전계 변화에 근거하여 경사지는 방향을 규제하는 구성을 구비하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 청구항 1에 기재된 액정 표시 장치를 구비한 것을 특징으로 하는 전자 기기.
